We’re suckers for New York holiday traditions–the tree at Rockefeller Center, the snowflake on Fifth Avenue, and the iconic department store windows filled with Christmas classics. But when we heard Barneys was replacing Santa with Gaga, we knew we were in for an iconoclastic and inspired treat. In just 12 days, Gaga’s Workshop will open to the public. And when it does, shoppers will experience a fantastically transformed retail space, captivating holiday windows, and exclusive products created by Lady Gaga under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti.
Expect elaborate art installations, bright colors, bold patterns, and abstract motifs throughout. Passersby on Madison Avenue will be treated to a Gaga themed tableaux inspired by music, fashion, astrology, and the elements. The Workshop, which will take over the entire fifth floor of the men’s store will be divided into eight stations–Candy Shop, Toy Shop, Closet for apparel and accessories, Library for music and media, Gallery for collectibles, Jewelry, Boudoir, and Holiday. And in keeping with the spirit of the season, Barneys will donate 25% of all items featured in Gaga’s Workshop to her Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment and equality.
Though Gaga’s Workshop will officially open it’s doors at 11:59pm on November 21st, Gagasworkshop.com has given us a peak of what’s in store. And for the next 12 days, the retailer will unveil another limited addition item so you can get a head start on your holiday shopping. First up–a hand decorated cookie bearing Gaga’s face in a telephone hat.
