Olympic Gold: Medal-Inspired Martinis
By Ryan Stern August 02, 2012
THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A GREAT EXCUSE FOR A PARTY. And with the 2012 Summer Olympics in full swing, there are 17 days and 26 sports of excuses for a fabulous fête. Whether hosting a few friends to view a soccer match, or going big with a closing ceremony bash with 50 pals, we’ve got you covered on the most important ingredient to any successful soiree: Olympic-Inspired Booze.
In honor of the most coveted element of the games—the medals themselves—we’ve put together a quick and easy guide to 3 killer cocktails inspired by the bronze, silver and gold. Cheers!
1. PURE GOLD
Dash Orange Bitters
Combine the tequila, St. Germaine, lime juice, agave nectar, bitters and pineapple in a martini shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass (or serve on the rocks), garnished with a slice of pineapple.
2. SILVER STANDARD
2 ½ oz Gin
Pour into a martini shaker, filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with a green olive (or lemon twist). Serve immediately.
3. Bourbon & Bronze
In a martini shaker, combine the liquor and honey. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with 1 brandied cherry. Can also be served on the rocks if desired.
