5 WINTER HAIR TIPSYou don’t have to suffer through dry, unmanageable hair this winter. We’ve rounded up our top suggestions for keeping your hair shiny, soft, and gorgeous this season.

1. Avoid Wool; Sleep on Satin
Wool can dry out hair, leading to static and dreaded frizz. Woolen hats are great for keeping your head warm, but look for caps lined with silk, which won’t cause breakage, to keep your tresses in tip-top shape. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase lets you fight frizz while sleeping.

2. Get a Trim

Cutting off those dead ends can make a huge difference in the overall health of your hair. Trim your dry ends and start fresh!

3. Moisturize
Avoid harsh clarifying shampoos and choose products that moisturize and hydrate your locks. We love Dove Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, which gently nourishes and conditions hair without overdrying and zapping moisture.

4. Cut Out the Heat
The less heat you use on your hair this winter, the happier it will be. Your hair loses moisture every time hot air is used on it, so put away the blow-dryer and let your locks air-dry. But don’t leave the house with wet hair—it can actually freeze and break when the temperature drops.

5. Brush With a Paddle
Stroking your hair with a wooden paddle brush distributes the natural oils from your scalp to the ends of your strands. When choosing a brush or comb, opt for wood over metal or plastic because wooden hair tools reduce static.
