A Day in the Pre-Fashion Week Life of Lisa Perry

By  September 05, 2012

The colorful world of Lisa Perry can brighten even the gloomiest of days. Keeping mod perpetually modern and fresh, Perry remains at the forefront of fashion. We caught up with the designer in the days leading up to her Spring 2013 presentation to find out how she keeps that poppy palette together.  Here, Perry shares her schedule with Glam:

6:30 AM:
Wake up and stretch in bed, and look at emails and newspapers on iPad.
7:00 AM: Turn on the TV for local weather and current events. I miss seeing Ann Curry (who looks so gorgeous in our dresses) and I’m upset she is no longer on the Today show so I have switched to GMA…Hmmph!
7:30 AM:
Get out of bed.
8:00 AM:
Pilates strength class at home with Alana. I spend half an hour tops for my workout.
8:30 AM: Breakfast: 12 minute steel cut oatmeal w/ bananas & maple syrup, English Breakfast tea and a large water w/ lemon and a straw, always a straw!
9:00 AM:
Get dressed in one of my favorite LPs and head to the store. Our offices are below the store on 77th and Madison, design, production and sales teams are all together, which I love.
10:00 AM: Meeting with our rep at Manolo Blahnik to choose shoes for the presentation. I’m like a kid in a candy store!
10:30 AM–12:00 PM: Look at and fit the newest samples from the last couple of days. Model go-sees happening simultaneously while deciding which looks will go on which model. It’s like a giant puzzle.
1:00 PM:
Order lunch from our standard 3 Guys Diner:  Corfu salad w/ grilled chicken & a cranberry juice. It’s delicious, but costs as much as a steak at Peter Luger’s. Crazy Upper East Side diner prices!
1:00-2:00 PM: Working lunch: Our first formal presentation for press and buyers will take place at our store on September 5th. I meet with the team to discuss every detail, including window design, music, order of looks, and timing.  We are excited at the thought and nervous at the same time.  The collection is great and fun so I tell myself not to worry plus the RSVP’s are pouring in.
3:00-4:00 PM: Have to sidetrack from Fashion Week as we are working on a new bag line for Holiday so I meet with our team of designers to make sure we will have product in the store by November.

5:00-6:00 PM: Head up to the selling floor for the last hour the store is open to chat with customers and sales staff. I love to get feedback from customers on a new collection and see how the clothes are fitting.
7:00 PM: Go to Barneys to check out BB Cream since everyone is raving and I want to see what the fuss is about! Then upstairs to meet my hubby for dinner at Freds.
