A Day in the Life: The Ultimate Shopping Road Trip
By Nola Weinstein
October 23, 2012
8:30 a.m. Woke up and checked the weather. The dreary forecast didn’t deter me. I wasn’t going to let storm clouds rain on my shopping parade-I just needed to dress accordingly. 9 a.m. Time to get dressed! I decided on a silk button-down, J Brand jeans, bright pink J.Crew ballet flats, and a comfy black sweatshirt cardigan. To keep things stylish in the storm, I coordinated my Felix Rey umbrella to match my shoes. 9:20 a.m. Out the door. I left my apartment and headed straight to Starbucks for a caffeine fix in the form of an iced skinny vanilla latte, which would keep me alert on the road. 9:45 a.m. Behind the wheel. I picked up the red Chevy Malibu from a local garage, turned the XM radio to a fun ’80s channel, and headed north. 11:15 a.m. After a smooth ride, I pulled into Woodbury Commons and found a spot near my favorite stores in the Grapevine Court. That’s where the Prada, Saks Off Fifth, Yves Saint Laurent, Chloé, Tory Burch, Theory, and Last Call outlets are all located. 11:30 a.m. I started at Last Call by Neiman Marcus, where I found an amazing Rachel Roy sequined skirt that’s perfect for holiday celebrations and a classic Stella McCartney blazer, which will serve me well at future Glam Media engagements. 12:30 p.m. The Theory outlet is always a must, and I have been known to spend hours there. This time I was on the hunt for leather separates, and there was no shortage of options. I settled on leather leggings, a combo blazer, and a leather paneled skirt. So what if all three of my purchases were basic black? I know they will be my fall wardrobe foundations. 2 p.m. Shoe time! YSL was fully stocked with Tribute pumps at a fraction of the cost. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the colors I was looking for in my size, but I definitely had a good time trying on some spectacular pumps. 2:30 p.m. Off to lunch. I took a break to refuel at the food court, where I went for a tofu-veggie wrap. Protein is key for powering through. 3:20 p.m. After lunch I was on a mission to find a black gown for my best friend Beth’s winter wedding. I didn’t find anything appropriate, but I did enjoy cruising the racks at Gucci, Fendi, Barneys, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, and Tory Burch. 4:30 p.m. Back to NYC. After a successful shopping excursion, it was time to head home. Lucky for me, the trunk had plenty of room for my many purchases–my closet on the other hand will have to be rearranged. When I got on the road, the rain was coming down hard, but I returned safely to my apartment without getting drenched. 7 p.m. Namaste. After an intense day at Woodbury, I was thrilled to have my weekly yoga session with my best friends, Michelle and Beth. Our instructor, Menna, is amazing and left me feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to rock those leather leggings. For more information about the all-new Chevy Malibu and Malibu Style visit
