Blue shadow tends to endure a bad rep, but the latest looks on the newsstand could be enough to redeem it. Though Radiant Orchid is the color of the year, blue looks primed to become this season’s staple.
Marc by Marc Jacobs featured Miriam Haney rocking the vibrant shade for its upcoming spring campaign, no doubt a fresh shade from the designer’s latest makeup collection. Even Dior tapped into a powdery version for its grandiose garden-themed campaign for its freshest makeup collection (though we’re also digging the gigantic floral headpieces that put Lana del Rey to shame).
In terms of cover girls, Jennifer Hudson kicked off the trend in November for her Billy Holiday-inspired spread in The Edit, wearing shadow to match her sparkling Oscar de la Renta gown. Vogue Russia gave the look a graphic twist with a sweeping cat-eye to go with the Prada sweater Sasha Luss wears on the cover.
Regardless of which way you choose to rock the color, it’s sure cause additional glances for a second (or third) look this season.
