With his first collection for Balenciaga came an understanding of Alexander Wang‘s intended aesthetic for the future of the brand – a mix of his own style paired with the storied structure Nicolas Ghesquiere cemented during his tenure at the fashion house. Now that the new designer debuted his position in the ready to wear division of the brand, he’s taken on another aspect – handbags.
Balenciaga just revealed Le Dix, the first collection of handbags for Fall 2013 designed by Wang. Named after the original address of the first Balenciaga salon, 10 Avenue George V, the collection features a definitive focus on leather, structure, timelessness and sleek but futuristic tendancies. “Le Dix refers to the original address where Balenciaga was founded,” said Wang. “It was also the name of the brand’s first fragrance. It was only natural that this heritage also be translated into a bag for this first collection.”
Prices will range from $995 to $2,250 for the collection which will be available in August.
