A new study by Stylophane (via HuffPo), which examined Facebook activity and engagement for both fashion and beauty companies, found that one brand has been beating out major companies likes like Covergirl, L’Oreal, and MAC. The winner is non-other than tattooed beauty Kat Von D, whose cosmetics line of the same name is sold exclusively at Sephora.
Stylophane counted approximately 2.2 million “likes” in the 67 posts to Kat Von D’s Facebook page in the month of July. Kat’s 4.7 million Facebook fans beat out Lancome’s 4.4 million and Maybelline’s 3.8 million fans. It should be noted that Kat’s Facebook page is also her official individual fan page, a fact Stylophane fails to mention in their study (but was picked up on by HuffPo). There’s no doubt, however, that Kat has a major following with her makeup brand even by those who aren’t necessarily admirers of her personal life.
Maybe these other brands should pick up on the popularity of the selfies and tattoo shots posted to Kat’s page — her sharing technique and intimate relationship with fans is definitely increasing their engagement. As for the beauty line itself, we can vouch. Her Painted Love Lipstick in Underage Red is one of the best we’ve tried!
