Versace-Pre-Fall-2014

DESIGNER: Donatella Versace

INSPIRATION: “A contemporary goddess: power, determination, strength, and glamour…” explained Versace.

TRENDS: Evening wear in line with Versace’s over-the-top glamourous aesthetic, in this case involving crystal embellished corsets, intricately beaded patterns, and gowns with unique necklines and high slits. The couture collection included Grace Kelly-esque hoods and fur collars to complement the silk draped dresses and tailored blazer-trouser pairings.

PALETTE: Metallic shades of black, pearl, gold, silver, citrine, periwinkle,  seafoam, beige, and blue.

WHO WAS THERE: Lady Gaga, whose track “Donatella,” from her latest album Artpop kept the mood of the show, Emmanuelle Alt, Azzedine Alaïa, and Riccardo Tisci sat in the audience. Lindsey Wixson and Karlie Kloss walked the runway.
