Aveda To Attempt a Guinness World Record

By  April 04, 2013

Do your locks need a trim or a Karlie Kloss-worthy chop? How about getting a cut for a good cause and help break a world record all at once?

Then mark your calendars as Aveda plans to set the Guinness World Record for Most Money Raised for a Charity by Haircuts in a 24-Hour Period by creating a global cut-a-thon. Aveda salons around the world are set to volunteer their time to cut hair in exchange for a donation to the brand’s Earth Month campaign in an effort to raise $5 million for clean water.

If you’re in the Big Apple, head over to the Aveda Institute on April 22nd to receive a hair cut or a blow dry and participate in a silent auction with donated items from local restaurants, shops, and more. The proceeds will benefit Clean Ocean Action, a non profit that aims to restore, improve, and protect the quality of local waterways.

If you can’t make it to the salon, you can still pitch in with the effort by picking up the brand limited edition Light the Way candle. The organic soy wax candle has notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and ylang ylang from Madagascar, and the proceeds will benefit the Global Greengrants Fund to support water projects all over the world.
