A year’s passed since Harlem-native Azealia Banks recounted being “in the 212, on the uptown A,” on the debut single of her 1991 EP. It was that electric, naughty, slick record which was touted as one of the best of songs of 2011 (#9 at Pitchfork Media, #2 for The Guardian), and catapulted her to the brink of stardom. Ms. Banks went from performing the raunchy “212″ at Karl Lagerfeld‘s eponymous label launch to going all “Van Vogue” for T by Alexander Wang‘s Fall 2012 campaign video. If media praise, initiation into the exclusive fashion space, and a dash of controversy (including spats with rappers Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, and Jim Jones), weren’t enough, the New York native is adding more lip to her repertoire.

Named after her alter ego, Rapunxel boasts a deep plum, semi-matte finish that matches the signature pout on Banks’ EP cover. It will be available online September 5th, and will make its MAC store debut in NYC stores on September 6th where you can pucker up for just $15 a pop.
