Backstage Beauty Beat: Veronica Beard

THE DESIGNER: Veronica Beard

THE HAIR: Welcome to the wild, wild west where slightly deconstructed fishtail braids are all the rave. To achieve this side-swept look, Veronica Beard teamed up with Original Mineral. First, prep dry hair with O&M Rootalicious and brush through for texture. Then, using the fishtail effect, make sure that the braid remains the same width from top to bottom. Then, sparingly apply O&M K-Gravel Texture Clay and Surf Bomb Sea Salt Texture Spray for controlled volume and sexy bed-head hair. Finally secure the end with an elastic band.

THE MAKEUP: Bobbi Brown was the makeup of choice for sister-in-law designers Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard this season. Artist Kim Soane achieved this all-American face with full brows, blue-rimmed eyes, rosy cheeks, and natural lip with the slightest bit of sheen. The Hydrating Face Cream was first used to make sure the skin was hydrated and smooth. Then, mimic the beauty look by using the Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation for a consistent tone. Grab the brand’s award-winning blush in a warm, soft pink, or wait for the Pink Brightening Brick to launch this fall and apply for a warm flush to cheeks. After defining the brows, the Navy & Nude Eye Palette was blended over lids and eyes were further intensified with the Steel Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner and Smokey Eye Mascara, all available in Fall 2013. Finally, seal the deal with a Warm Beige Creamy Matte Lip. Want more tips? Check out Bobbi Brown‘s Veronica Beard Fall 2013 board on Pinterest.

THE NAILS: When in doubt, go red. And if you’re really feeling the spirit, choose three shades of the rich hue like Essie did for this red-hot manicure. All Tied Up was first applied as the base color then two coats of Brownie Points was lacquered on the nail everywhere except the moon. Finally, the mani was topped with a thin line of Berry Hard at the tip for a full-on color-block effect.
