Balmain-Spring-2014

DESIGNER: Olivier Rousteing

INSPIRATION: ”I wanted to explore something casual and sporty,” Rousteing shared backstage according to Style.com. “It’s less evening and more real. It’s more me.”

TRENDS: Balmain went with a sporty ’80s and ’90s influenced line, including everything from jumpsuits to bombers, and added their personal  touch of high-fashion bling. Pieces, including denim co-ords and dresses with drop waist trumpet skirts, were detailed with metallic buttons and thick gold chains either along the collar or at the waist. Also featured were quilted jackets and skirts, belted cardigans, and feathered skirts in woven multi-frabric checkered prints, houndstooth, jean material, sheers, silks, and leather.

PALETTE: black and white, light denim, powder blue, baby pink, gold, white, cream.

WHO WAS THERE: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Georgia May Jagger, and Karlie Kloss on the catwalk. Anna Wintour, Miroslava Duma, and Anna Dello Russo in the front rows.

PLAYLIST: Dead or Alive, A-ha, Duran Duran, and other ’80s-’90s classics
