From Cara Delevingne to Michelle Obama, bold brows are truly a beauty must-have and show no signs of going away any time soon.
If you’ve tweezed them until there was nothing left, have a few sparse spots, or even have brows with minds of their own, Benefit’s Gimme Brow has you covered. In lieu of powder or pencils, the innovation stems from a fiber gel formula, similar to mascaras, to adhere to skin and hair for a natural bold brow. Plus, the tapered brush allows you to easily shape with the tip and blend the rest.
Best of all, you can win one of your own! Poshly has put up another one of my picks up for grabs with just a quiz (or a few more if you’d like more chances) to win and customize your beauty profile to receive free products the site knows you’ll adore.
Send me a snap of you rocking your Benefit-approved brows, and remember, go bold or stay home!
While we’re craving color for spring, many across the pond are giving the lipstick index a nearly nude make-under.
The Telegraph looked into what caused nude shades to outpace reds for the first time in three years in the U.K. High street department store Debenhams reported a 62 percent spike so far this year but noted that celebs like Kim Kardashian could be a factor, as Sarah Stern, Debenhams‘ health and beauty director told The Daily Mail, ”Even reality star Kim Kardashian has recently undergone a make-under towards a softer more relaxed appearance I like to call naked make-up.”
Even so, Kim K. gets her cues from Kanye, who, in turn, worships the runway and could have been inspired by the many designers who went for fresh faced looks or strong eyes that need nude lips for balance. Even with the fantastical looks that are synonymous with Paris Fashion Week, Balmain, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and Dries Van Noten let the clothes speak for themselves for spring with the no-makeup makeup look.
Not only that but fashion fanatics and beauty buffs are getting clued into the season’s upcoming looks as soon as they hit the runway, cutting the time that a trend needs to take off significantly. “Most people are pretty clued up about what’s happening on the runway as soon as the show happens,” Aaron Foster, PR manager for House of Fraser told The Telegraph. “And, while they might not be able to ‘get the fashion look’ for a few months, beauty is different. You can usually find any color, particularly in lipstick, instantly.”
With warm temperatures slowly but surely on the rise, we might have to alternate between bold lipsticks and moisturizing balms.
The Muppets have returned, not just on silver screens but also your nail polish rack with a fresh collection from OPI.
As the colorful cast takes their shenanigans international, the brand upped the pizzazz with chunky glitters but stepped away from the reds and hot pinks from their original collaboration from 2011 for a series of nearly nudes on trend with the spring forecast.
With loads of fun in store for fans and mani mavens alike, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP Suzi Weiss-Fischmann couldn’t wait to share a few of her favorites. “Fashionable Miss Piggy is represented through soft pink, peach and pearlescent hues, as well as a frosty sapphire blue – Miss Piggy’s Big Number – to match her fabulous tour gown,” she explained. “The remaining four shades highlight the film’s unexpected elements and include a color-shifting mauve and three sparkle-packed lacquers – including my personal favorite Gaining Mole-mentum, a gold and rose chunky shredded glitter.”
With the amount of dazzle per digit, we’re sure Miss Piggy would be proud!
While most faces went nearly nude on the spring 2014 runways, a few designers added a delicious twist on the classic red lip, including Rag & Bone and Prabal Gurung. With celebs likes Kate Bosworth, Lupita Nyong’o, Zooey Deschanel, and more rocking the hue on the red carpet already, a fresh orange lip is at the top of our must-try list for the season. Whether you go matte, satin, or glossy, the shade is a sure fire way to beat the end of winter blues:

We’re shameless when it comes to selfies, but a simple snap could land you in L.A. with Drew Barrymore.
To celebrate the start of spring and her newest launches, Barrymore is looking for a few floral-faced beauties. If you’re getting dolled up and wearing Flower Beauty, you can submit a selfie to the brand’s Facebook page along with why you deserve to win a trip to the Sunshine State to get a makeover and join the multitasking mama on the red carpet for the premiere of Blended.
Barrymore and her Flower faction will then choose the 20 finalists and Facebook fans can choose the top five who will make the trip. Talk about red carpet ready! We’re ready to sign up ourselves!
MAC is once again on a music mission, this time partnering with the young Grammy winner on a summer collection, according to The Cut. The “Royals” songstress has worked with MAC senior artist Amber Dreadon to create the goth chic looks for her tour, which hits the Big Apple tomorrow (get your tickets quickly, kittens), so you can be sure a deep lip is on deck for the collaboration.
While Lorde isn’t into glitz and glamor, she has been a bit of a beauty buff for a few years. “I have loved MAC Cosmetics since I was a little kid,” she told the site. “I remember saving up to buy my very first MAC lipstick [Snob] at 14, and it was used by about 20 of my friends! MAC has a very clear aesthetic that has always felt fashion forward to me. So I was really excited to work with them on these products, which I use pretty much every day and night. I hope you will too.”
This also comes on the heels of the upcoming Osbournes collaboration that is slated to hit shelves around the same time. It seems the beauty brand not only has our beauty looks wrapped up for the season, but our playlist as well.
We can practically smell spring in the air, and as we start snapping up our must haves of the season, Suno is ensuring our cosmetics will be carried in style.
The design duo behind Suno has partnered with Beauty.com to manufacture a makeup bag worthy of our spring essentials, thanks to the brand’s Dégradé Daisy print (uh-oh, now we have this song stuck in our heads), which pulled inspiration from its spring 2014 collection. The tote arrives filled with everything to start the season right from some of our favorite brands, including Urban Decay, Origins, Peter Thomas Roth, and Butter London, plus a discount offer on the site.
Both Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty believe the bag will be a prefect addition for any spring break escapes on your agenda. “We love this printed makeup up bag for travel,” they said. “It’s a stylish way to hold your beauty necessities!”
You can nab the cute cosmetics case when you spend $100 or more at Beauty.com while supplies last!
Peter Philips sent his final makeup masterpiece for Chanel down the runway last week, now the cosmetics connoisseur already has a new post at Dior.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the makeup maestro has just been named the creative and image director for Dior, effective immediately. Philips will follow in the footsteps of Tyen, who has worked with the brand for over 30 years but will remain with the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
Philips officially severed ties with #CCertified brand in 2013 after 5 years and several makeup musts, including the iconic Jade nail polish and even grey blush, as well as unforgettable runways looks to go freelance for a while but maintained close ties. “Peter Philips has left an indelible mark on Chanel Make-Up and his contribution to the Brand is an important part of the Chanel legacy,” Chanel’s statement read when he departed. “He will remain a cherished friend and contributor to the House of Chanel.”
“His talent and his unique and modern vision of beauty are recognized around the world,” Claude Martinez, president and chief executive officer of Parfums Christian Dior, said in a statement. And they’re sure to do wonders as he set off to create new classics for the cosmetics company to join fan favorites like the Dior Show Mascara and Airflash complexion products.
We can’t wait to see what Philips has up his sleeve. Best of luck!
When it comes to polish we tend to be all over the place, we love one shade one minute and then we’re already onto to the next with a basket of bottles to prove it. Now Sephora is catching up to our shade switch speed.
The beauty retailer will roll out a set of 24 one-time-use nail polish Press Pods, a play on classic holiday value eye shadow palettes that will hit shelves in late April. The team created a specialized brush that allows the color to flow easily without drying out. All it takes is a pop of the top, a roll of the brush between the fingers before brushing on the color. And don’t worry; all of the Formula X shades will undergo the pod process.
Vice president and general manager for Formula X for Sephora’s Kendo brand incubator Kristin Walcott boasted the values of the pods have enough polish to take care of all 10 tips, but they’re also great options when you’re in the midst of a sweet escape thanks to their size. “We know our guests love to experiment with new nail shades, and this allows them to preview our 24 bestselling Formula X shades before committing to a full-sized bottle,” Walcott told Women’s Wear Daily.
We think our nail polish basket just heaved a sigh of relief.
On the eve of International Women’s Day, Bobbi Brown is gearing up to prove once again that that pretty can be powerful.
The makeup maven has partnered with Girl Rising to release a limited edition mascara in the US, UK, Korea, and South Africa whose full proceeds will go to the Pretty Powerful Campaign. For $25, the initiative funds educational, job skills training, and empowerment programs worldwide for women and girls to not only confront gender inequality but to also help better their community and break the cycle of poverty.
Brown herself believes that confidence can help you overcome many obstacles, but education is key to make great change. “[N]othing makes a woman or girl feel more confident than being educated and having the knowledge and kills to better her life, an the lives of her family and community members,” she explained.
After watching a clip from the Girl Rising documentary, which tells the story of nine girls from around the developing world who overcome the odds to pursue their dreams of an education, the mascara is an easy way to make a difference.
