By  September 16, 2014

Jennifer Lawrence may have it in the bag with Dior, but Natalie Portman maintains some serious star power. The Knight of Cups star channeled Old Hollywood as the face of the brand’s newest foundation, DiorSkin Star, which is its first brightening foundation to correct blemishes and wrinkles. Shine bright, Natalie! [Fashion Gone Rouge]

We spent most of Fashion Week wondering where all of the color had gone. Apparently it was one the other side of the pond, as Burberry sent its girls out rocking an almost effortless red lip. If you want to take your Spring 2015 makeup from desk to drinks, a swipe of the brand’s Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick in Ruby won’t interrupt the rest of your look. [The Cut]

Happy Bee Day, Burt’s Bees! The natural beauty brand wants to celebrate its 30-year anniversary with you. All it takes is a tweet or a post on the brand’s Facebook page with the hashtag #burtsbeeday to have Burt himself read your message live during a global webcast on the brand’s website September 17. Our only question: will honey be in the birthday cake? [Glam Inbox]

As attached as we are to the Internet, especially when it comes to shopping, we could use a detox every once in a while. American Express partnered online retailers like Birchbox, Bonobos, and Rent the Runway (e-commerce stores that have moved to brick and mortar), for Online’s Day Off on September 18. Participants will share their insights to help small businesses expand by exploring retail and e-commerce trends. Plus, there’s a shopping event in store on September 20 where consumers can experience emerging online brands like GlamSquad, Mantry and Ringly inside the shops of Amex’s partners! We’re ready to shop ’til we drop! [Glam Inbox]

Jamie Chung Shares Her Front Row Fixtures

By  September 16, 2014

To be honest, we’re still bouncing back from our NYFW hangover, so to see Jamie Chung out and about was a surprise. The Once Upon a Time star came out to the premiere of Origins’ new documentary mere days after attending a slew of fashion shows. On the Road with Origins chronicled journey to find the ingredients of it latest launch, the Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum, on three different continents. In between bites of delicacies from France, Australia, and Ghana (where the ingredients were sourced), Glam got the scoop from the front row fixture on how she handled the madness.

We saw you a lot at the tents; how did you survive?

I was hanging onto a thread because as much as I love fashion shows, it was way too much for me. In the end, it’s all about the clothes, and I was thrilled to be a part of it and see what the designers have up their sleeves.

How did you treat yourself after all of the fashionable fêtes?

A lot of sleep, not enough exercise. Literally, I would go home at 9:00 p.m. and be in bed by 9:30 p.m. I need my beauty sleep.

What would you pack in your Fashion Week survival kit next season?

If the bag was large enough, a private masseuse for daily appointments. (Just kidding.) It would be a gift certificate for a foot massage after wearing all the heels, a manicure/pedicure kit. It would have collagen eye patches, and lots of water, vitamin C, and hand sanitizer.

Who are some of your style icons?

Coco Rocha is here, and I was literally having a fangirl moment, but I really love Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr.

What is your favorite Origins product?

The new Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum - it uses all of the extracts they found in France, Australia, and Ghana. What I love about is all the natural ingredients, and I love that they’re doing this whole campaign so you can actually see the ingredients. I think that’s important to see versus tons of chemicals you don’t understand and putting it on your face.

Beauty Buzz: Demeter Does LFW, A Beauty Cream That Breaks The Bank, and Weddding-Worthy Nail Art

By  September 15, 2014

It’s not just makeup, hair, and skincare brands getting the models revved up to rock the runway. Turns out Demeter Fragrance Library partnered with Palmer//Harding for its fashion show on Sunday. The brand combined Magnolia, Oud, and Dust from its archive to scent the space, tapping into the designers’ inspiration of finding the beauty in aging. Talk about a truly sensory experience! [Glam Inbox]

When it comes to anti-aging, apparently no price is too high! Dr. Alexandrides of 111 Skin crafted the Celestial Black Diamond Cream, which was developed with former Soviet space scientists. Derived of a potent Vitamin C derivative, Escin, and black diamonds (yeah, you read that right), the cream increases antioxidants that protects and repair skin as well as increase circulation for better absorption. While the black diamonds aren’t active ingredients, it pushes the price up to $1,095. Time to pay up, kittens. [Fashionista]

Brides-to-be, if you want your digits to be as decadent as your dress, listen up! Bridal & commitment jeweler extraordinaire Anna Sheffield partnered with Marie Nails salon to customize wedding-worthy nail art that complements her designs. For just $65, you can kiss the classic French and bid goodbye to something blue on your tips and toes for your big day. [Glam Inbox]

With the start of the new season, it’s time to re-evaluate your skincare routine, and Clinique is here to help! The beauty brand will set up shop on September 18 at Bloomingdales 59th Street in the Big Apple to provide comprehensive consultations. Skin savants will not only receive Clinique’s new Smart Custom-Repair Serum to test-drive, but they’ll also create customized smartphone designed on the spot by fashion illustrator Brooke Hagel. Such a smart idea! [Glam Inbox]

Kiehl’s is giving back once again for the golden anniversary of its iconic Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion. The skincare staple comes wrapped in limited edition packaging designed by renowned photographer Christopher Makos, featuring images that are an homage to New York City. Plus, many large-scale prints of the featured snaps will be up for exhibition and auction in the brand’s flagship from September 18-25 with all proceeds benefitting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Zosia Mamet Talks Her New Tresses and Top Trends

By  September 15, 2014

It seems (platinum) blondes have more fun off the set of Girls. Zosia Mamet is the latest star to snag the Hollywood hue along with a chic cropped cut.

The HBO darling recently wrapped up season 4 – yes, we can’t wait for it either – allowing her to try out the bold color she hadn’t tested in a while just for fun. “I got to go blonder a few years ago for a play, and that was the first time I dyed my hair,” she told People in a new video. “I only got to have it for like three months, and then I had to go back to being a brunette for the show.”

The shade switch wasn’t her only big change – she rid herself of Shoshanna’s signature long locks in lieu of a cute ear-length bob, making it much easier for her to sleep at night.  Mamet explained, “If I turned over at night, I’d have to throw my hair [over] first, because it was so long that if I turned into it, it would strangle me. Having short hair is just so easy.”

When it comes to her own style she has a few sticking points, including picking fresh flats over haute heels and killer cross-bodies over cute clutches. But when it comes to her character, there’s no shortage of crafty hair accessories up her sleeve. “I don’t think you can choose between headbands or clips,” Mamet said. “She’d probably choose both.”

Haven’t seen the video yet? Check out the clip below.

Christopher Kane is a NARSisst

By  September 15, 2014

It wouldn’t be Fashion Month without a runway-ready collaboration or two taking over our newsfeed! NARS has announced its latest link up with Christopher Kane.

The designer and beauty have come together to craft a limited edition collection of eye lip, and cheek essential will make their debut on Kane’s runway this afternoon! Based on his bevy of fresh-faced beauties from seasons past, we expect to see nearly nude hues all wrapped in one of Kane’s innovative prints. “NARS has been a long-standing and valued partner of ours, so this collaboration was an obvious fit,” Kane said in a statement. “NARS has the same unapologetic aesthetic that is signature to the Christopher Kane brand and I’m excited to share what we’ve created together.”

The only drawbacks? We’ll a few months before seeing what the actual makeup looks like, then sit “patiently” until May 2015 to get our hands on everything. We’re marking our calendars now, as we’re sure the pieces will be well worth the wait!

Beauty Buzz: Lupita Looks (Even More) Luminous, Taking Anna Wintour's Hair Advice, and No Makeup Means More Skincare

By  September 12, 2014

Lupita Nyong’o is back and more radiant than ever! The Oscar winner has returned to Lancôme as the face of its new Vissionaire Advanced Skin Corrector campaign. The new formula provides instant gratification along with long-lasting results thanks to a new exclusive double-Jasmonate complex that smoothes skin and corrects tone. If it makes us look as luminous as Lupita, we’ll take two bottles! [Racked]

Whatever Anna Wintour says, goes, including when your tresses need a trim. Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki learned sitting front row with the Vogue editrix, who told her she needed a new do. Wozniacki didn’t hesitate to take Wintour’s sage strand advice, showing off the results via Instagram. “Loving my new haircut!” she captioned the snap. “Thank you Anna Wintour for telling me I need one and setting it up for me.” [Glamour]

The fresh-faced look shows no signs of slowing down, In fact, we’ve seen the trend ramp up backstage as designers like Marc Jacobs, J. Mendel, and many more have skipped makeup (almost) altogether. While it does seem a bit ironic, the trend may easily shift makeup mavens’ focus to a more stringent skincare routine in order to have that #IWokeUpLikeThis look without the worry of looking perfectly painted. 5 Tips to Feeling Fresh All Day

By  September 11, 2014

Article 1_Glam_Article_Carefree_FreshTips_Slice

Long days seem longer when you’re dragging from the start of the morning and then lack proper “picker-uppers” through the afternoon and evening. It’s time to prepare for these 12-plus-hour stretches by thinking ahead. Learn how to kick things off first thing in the a.m. in fresh fashion and then keep up the enlivened attitude all day long with our tips.

Wake up with the help of nature’s most invigorating scents to spark your senses on even the most difficult of morning wake-up calls. Look for shower products that contain rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, and citrus, said to stimulate even the most weary minds and bodies with their energizing, freshening properties.

John Frieda Root Awakening Nourishing Moisture Shampoo for Dry Hair, available at Ulta for $6.99
John Frieda Root Awakening Nourishing Moisture Conditioner for Dry Hair, available at Ulta for $6.99

Hydrating early and continuing to drink water throughout the day is sure to change your mood, energy level, digestion, and overall health. A cool glass of H20 first thing in the morning, before consuming any other food or drink, will boost your metabolism and make you feel alert. It doesn’t stop there though. Get your eight-plus ounces by packing a portable bottle that can be refilled during the day for refreshment on the go.
Reduce Water Week Cardigan Bottle, set of five 16 oz. bottles, available at Casa.com for $17.99

Pack panty liners in your purse if you’re scheduled to be on the go from morning till night. Ideally, we like to stay clean and comfortable without any added bulkiness down below, which is why Carefree ® is our go-to. So thin and soft as cotton yet absorbent and freshening, the liners make it easy to forget they’re even there. Spend your day confidently fresh with the help of a liner that allows you to live life in your own style—choose among Original, Acti-Fresh®, or Thong options.
Carefree Liners, available at Carefreeliners.com, prices vary based on type

Don’t knock French-style freshening spray until you’ve tried it, because one spritz of the Evian Mineral Water Spray Duo To Go bottle on your fatigued face midday and those neverending hours post-lunch will never be the same. Travel size, instantly hydrating, and revitalizing, it even can also help remove perspiration, ocean salt, and pool chlorine from skin.
Evian Mineral Water Spray Duo To Go, available at Sephora for $14

An on-the-go teeth touch-up tool is a quick and easy solution for keeping your mouth clean, cool, and ready for any situation. Pick up a product that does all the above, perfect for after coffee, red wine, or meals or anytime you want whiter teeth and fresher breath without having to rinse or brush.

Beauty Buzz: Erin Fetherston Has Her Eye on the Prize, Mila Kunis’ Pedi Problems, and What’s Pumps Up a Polish’s Price

By  September 11, 2014

We always see skincare brands pop up near the end of New York Fashion Week, but Erin Fetherston had a new addition: her own set of eye gels. The designer partnered with Skyn Iceland to create a Fashion Week survival kit that you can snap up! The set feature 10 packs of the brand’s iconic Cool Firming Eye Gels dressed up with Fetherston’s feminine style. We’re ordering a pack ASAP! [Skyn Iceland]

Many were shocked to see mom-to-be Mila Kunis stepping out with a fresh pedi. Turns out sporting a baby bump in a nail salon can put you and your little one in peril. Aside from the chemical odors, the risk of bacterial or fungal infection, even a foot massage can cause contractions, which can be bad for pregnant women whose little ones aren’t full term yet. Yikes! [Glamour]

It might’ve been the sticker shock or the intimidating bottle, but many have been wary of Christian Louboutin’s nail polish (just not us). The pricey polish isn’t just red paint in a bottle though. The New York Times takes a peek under the cap to find it’s not just the designer and its history but a whole army of beauty buffs out to create the best possible product. [New York Times]

DreamDry has a major milestone to celebrate: the one-year anniversary of its 57th Street location in the Big Apple. City natives and visitors alike can vie for the chance to be the first 100 clients to receive a complimentary Caption Nails Manicure gift set when snapping up a service. Those who don’t make the cut won’t be left out as everyone will receive a complimentary Kérastase Fusidose Treatment that day. Happy Birthday! [Glam Inbox]
