I see you eyeing me. It’s not just because I woke up like this, either. It’s because there’s something drawing special attention to the lady as of late: WINK Matte Liquid Eyeliners from butter LONDON.

Though I’m not the most colorful dresser—I stick to my nudes and prefer sporadic prismatic pops—I don’t shy away from hues when it comes to beauty. This summer saw me rim my eyes in teal, mint, and gold glitter, while my lashes fluttered with violet, cobalt, and emerald intensity. Alas, fall is nigh, and with it, the need for richer tones and jewel-inspired hues that echo my bright-eyed ode to summer.

butter LONDON’s latest lid liners answer that call. With shades like British Racing Green and Royal Navy, I’m able to brighten up my seasonal beauty look, and go against fall makeup that repeatedly calls for earth tones, fresher faces, and moodier pouts. Moreover, application is a breeze; the product doesn’t ooze out of the brush, which could lend to a sloppy finish, and instead, consistently delivers the precision a liquid liner should guarantee. It’s smudge and water-proof, so when applying, you might want to draw with an eye pencil then trace over; that doubly means you don’t have to worry about raccoon eyes at the end of the day.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder… with this, it’s actually in your eyes. — Angel Lenise

Vitamins for the Ladies – Cater To Your Health Needs With These

By  August 29, 2014

Flintstones Chewables and vitamins of the gummy variety have their time and place, but as you grow up you’ll find that your body’s needs change. You may need more of a specific mineral, or you may be trying to tackle a certain issue that you want to improve. We’ve moved far beyond generic multivitamins that are the size of a gumball. Now’s the time for supplements to suit your specific needs. Here are two that should be on your radar!

Vous Vitamin is all about the personal supplement experience. Created by two women doctors, the pills are made to your specific health needs based on a cool online ordering form. “We’ve spent years talking to our patients about vitamins for health and to address symptoms (such as fatigue, constipation or thinning hair). We found that everyone was confused about what to take and each person has unique needs based on their diet, lifestyle, health history and complaints. We came up with a online system by which people everywhere can take a brief survey about their specific health habits and we can then provide them with a Personalized Multivitamin… People feel great knowing that doctors created the perfect, safe natural product for their exact needs so they are not taking unnecessary or potentially harmful ingredients,” explained Vous Vitamin co-creator Dr. Arielle Miller Levitan. You can create a personalized multivitamin, or go for a “situational supplement,” which come in specific blends like Immune Blast, Power Up, and Recovery Act.

HUM Nutrition is available at Sephora as well as at HumNutrition.com, and they aim to reinvent the supplement game. HUM Nutrition cuts right to the chase by creating products specifically for beauty and lifestyle, with names like “Red Carpet” which offers maximum strength for hair and nails, “Killer Nails” and “Here Comes the Sun” which is a powerful D3 boost. Beat the Burn: Top Tips to Erase Sun Damage

By  August 28, 2014

Article 5_Glam_Article_Venus_BeatTheBurn_Slice
Once summer rolls around, we can’t get enough of the sun and the festivities it brings along. But the biggest drawback of the season’s abundance of sunshine is the wicked burn you can get if you don’t protect yourself. Glam turned to renowned dermatologist Dr. Jody Levine to find out how to heal bad sunburns in a flash.

Prevention by Protection
We all know how important sunscreen is to our daily routine, but many forget to reapply it throughout the day (every two hours, or if you get wet). There are also plenty of spots that can slip your mind and become a big pain after it’s too late, including the feet, ears, lips, eyelids, and even your eyeballs. “I think the eyes are a big one because you can actually get a sunburn on the cornea—the white part of the eye—so wearing sunglasses is really important,” she said. “Some people don’t even know it and they go to the eye doctor, who says, ‘I think you have some damage on your cornea.’”

Calm Down Quickly
Whether you’ve fallen asleep in the sun or thought a few hours without sunscreen would get you looking golden faster, burns can quickly go from bad—redness, tenderness—to worse, with painful blisters. Regardless of the level of damage, the skin needs to be soothed stat! “I love aloe vera, and I usually mix with it with a 1 percent hydrocortisone cream, and that really helps. You don’t want to overdo steroid creams,” Dr. Levine said. “In addition, a cool cloth always feels nice, or a cool shower or bath.”

Put the Peeling on Hold
As weird as it may look both on and off your body, peeling the dead skin from sunburn doesn’t make you heal any faster. “The skin that you want to peel is attached to skin that’s not ready to be peeled off, and if you do peel it, you’re going to end up hurting yourself,” she warned. While wiping the skin gently with a washcloth can catch the flaky bits easily, stubborn peeling skin may need a bit more. Shaving exfoliates the skin, and with the use of a gentle razor like Gillette’s Venus Embrace Sensitive you can say goodbye to those dry patches. Once you shave, apply a fragrance-free lotion to moisturize and nourish.

Christian Siriano's First Fragrance Campaign Unveiled!

By  August 28, 2014

After a year of anticipation, we finally have a first look at Christian Siriano’s first fragrance!

Called Silhouette, the scent is meant to flatter any woman. The bottle consists of a rose gold base and a transparent overlay cap and mimics the pleating and layering prominent in many of his designs. It’s even translated into the ad campaign, which features Coco Rocha in one of Siriano’s gowns with pleating in the bodice. “We’re about dressing all types of women, and I wanted the fragrance to feel the same way,” the designer told InStyle. “Even down to the name, Silhouette, we wanted it to feel like it could be for every woman—she can be any size, any age, any shape, and it’s all about celebrating the silhouette of a woman.”

Prices between $68 and $92 at Neiman Marcus exclusively, the fragrance channels Siriano’s signature sophistication with surprising combinations of notes like grapefruit and oakmoss. It also blends cassis, green apple, freesia, purple berries, with added green and woody elements to create a light and sweet scent. Siriano found the scent-swatching experience enlightening, as he saw how it was similar to crafting a collection that could appeal to ladies from all walks of life. ““It’s really similar to how I choose fabrics and build on top of things to create a texture. It was cool to see these similarities, and being in the lab was such a learning process,” he said. “Fragrance is an item that lasts a really long time, and I wanted it to be something that was signature to my brand and my world that could last 50 years.”

Siriano has big plans for the perfume’s debut on September 3 – just in time for New York Fashion Week. The designer will open a pop-up shop at 402 West 13th Street  which will feature a live plant wall of all of the fragrance’s notes, personal picks from previous collections, and even a film premiere of the scent first commercial! “I wanted to build a space where customers can come and understand what my world is about, and it’s going to be really interactive,” he said.  “There’s a lot going on!”

Long Hair, Don't Care: Kylie Jenner Snags Extensions

By  August 28, 2014

It’s only been two weeks since Kylie Jenner snapped up an undercut, but she’s already on to the next strand style: extensions.

Jenner shared snaps of her new lengthier locks on Monday from the set of an upcoming PacSun campaign, crediting her hairstylist Joyce Bonelli for the look with the meme-worthy caption: “Long hair, don’t care.” Upon closer inspection, many think the matte nude lip and lush lashes make the youngest Kardashian look just like her older sister Kim when she first entered the spotlight.

But it seems Jenner’s already moved on with her mane. The most recent Instagram taken early Thursday morning showcased the lob she’s been rocking since the start of the summer. As they say: hair today, gone tomorrow!

5 Musts From Any Lotion

By  August 28, 2014

Choosing a preferred lotion shouldn’t be a guessing game. Know which five things make up a topnotch body moisturizer and be sure yours is making the cut.

1. Trusted ingredients
Look at the label and make sure you understand and feel comfortable with the additives you’ll be applying to your skin. It’s always a safe bet to go for organic ingredients, like fruit extracts, vitamin C, and natural moisturizers such as vegetable glycerin and shea butter.

2. A splendid scent
Whether you’re a citrus sort of girl, a fan of floral and fruits, or a sucker for warmer aromas like oatmeal and vanilla, it’s important that you fall in love with the scent of your lotion.

3. Easy application
You don’t want a moisturizer that is going to take forever to apply and soak in. A good lotion will quickly absorb, for instant hydration.

4. Hydration with a fresh feel
Get moisturized skin without the heavy lotion feel. A lotion that leaves your skin fresh, energized, and healthily hydrated shouldn’t have you feeling weighted down, overly oiled, and greasy.

5. Dermatologist approved
This seal of approval is always a bonus. Check for it on the packaging.

Maiyet Launches Debut Fragrance with Barneys New York

By  August 27, 2014

When globally conscious luxury brand Maiyet hosted a dinner party at Barneys New York in celebration of its debut fragrance, it was only natural that the conversation at the table centered around travel. An ice-breaking question about summer getaways quickly spawned an animated discussion on once-in-a-lifetime trips and memorable destinations that spanned all corners of the globe. It was a conversation that would’ve inspired wanderlust in anyone, and it was particularly fitting because that was the exact emotion Miayet’s new perfume wants to evoke. As one person put it, the fragrance is meant to embody “all the places you want to go.”

Each season, Maiyet collaborates with artisans from around the world, such as silk weavers in Varanasi, India or metalworkers in Nairobi, Kenya, to create the collection, melding local craftsmanship with elevated design. The brand brings the same ethos to its perfume, which launches today as the latest scent in Barneys New York Designer Fragrance Collection. Many of the scent’s ingredients come from the places where Maiyet works: saffron, jasmine and sandalwood from India, patchouli from Indonesia, myrrh from East Africa, bergamot from Italy, Madagascan vanilla, Hatian vetiver and American cedar. As expected, there’s a certain complexity to the scent, but much like the brand’s fashion and accessory pieces, the final feel is clean, elegant and understated.

Beauty Buzz: Hannah Bronfman Puts Her App to the Test, Try a Lobster Tail, and L’Oreal Levels The Playing Field

By  August 27, 2014

Last-minute party plans are no match for Hannah Bronfman and Beautified. The founder had John Ostrovsky (aka The Fat Jew) test drive the app by transforming from a couch potato to a primped up party girl in a new video. Braids were a summertime staple, but you can now consider the fishtail fried. Stylist Mario Russo has crafted a new item for his braid bar menu that you have to try: the Lobster Tail. It takes a spritz of texture spray and a few twists to get it right, but the results are sure to cause a double take at all of your Labor Day weekend soirees. [Bella Sugar]

While ladies are still breaking boundaries for gender equality, L’Oreal is lending a hand.  It’s become the first U.S. company to be certified with the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality global standard for the workplace. The beauty brand spent six months taking a hard look at every aspect of their company to create “a company culture where both men and women can thrive.” [WWD]

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and when it comes to Kate Upton, that’s no surprise! The mega model smolders in her ads for Bobbi Brown’s new Smokey Nudes collection of neutrals in a range to textures. She said, “It’s sexy, classic, and it brings out the blue in my eyes. It’s a bold statement, so I don’t have to do much to the rest of my look.” Consider your date-night look locked in! [Style

Cleansing powder has become the new skincare du jour. The finely milled suds, usually made with plants extracts and pulverized minerals, turn into an effective exfoliating cleanser when mixed with water. Though formulated for sensitive skin, we’re sure everyone going to snap one up regardless of skin type. [Telegraph]

Speaking of skincare, Restorsea is streamlining its consultation process with a brand new app. Called MyRestorsea, it allows women to upload an image of themselves and get a peek into the future to see what their skin could look like with the brand’s hero products.
