Katy Perry’s got a new look, but we can’t help but side-eye. The songstress shared a snap of the new look, which she dubbed the Kris Jenner, and set off a firestorm of speculation. It’s not that we don’t love the cropped coif (we really do – Hello, Elizabeth Taylor), we just don’t believe it’s real since today is April Fool’s. Only time will tell if this look will last! Many were shocked when Linda Rodin sold her eponymous beauty line to Estée Lauder a few months ago, but you can breathe easy. Rodin is still running things, and is even repackaging Bis, the scent she crafted to smell like her mother, for Mother’s Day with snaps of her mom. As she explained, the sale may have put more layers to the company also opened her brand to new resource and possibilities.  “I’m not going anywhere,” she said. “When I’m dead they can sell it at K-Mart, I don’t care. The brand is launching its Flawless Friends Network as part of its #BeautyBoost campaign to help us remember, “Laughter is the best cosmetic.” Benefit’s new network allows you to give Miss Cleo (OMG – remember her?!) a ring at 1-844-SO-FLAWLESS to get her insights into the future of your next beauty look. In case you don’t believe her, the cosmetics company scored star-worthy testimonials from the likes of Joey Lawrence and Shannen Doherty.

It looks like Uber and Classpass have started a trend, as BeautyBooked has tapped into the technology with BeautyPass. The new booking method lets you score unlimited blowout for $99 a month at participating salons throughout Manhattan. Day in the Life: George Papanikolas, Matrix Celebrity Stylist

George Papanikolas is one of the stylists who brought balayage from behind the salon chair to the hair color aisle by transforming the technique into the biggest hair trend of 2014 with help from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, Sofia Vergara, and many more strand style setters. Glam caught up with the stylist to the stars as he perfects his Ecaille (or tourtoisehell) hair coloring technique, which is already on its way to becoming the nest big beauty trend, and puts the finishing touches on his home renovations:

6:00 a.m.: Wake up, have two cups of coffee and breakfast. Check emails, respond to media requests, pay bills.
7:00 a.m.: Contractor Meeting. I’m in the tail end of my home renovation and need to meet with them daily to ensure that everything is progressing smoothly!


7:30 a.m.: 1 hour workout at Equinox to clear my mind for the day ahead of me.
9:00 a.m.: I arrive at the Andy LeCompte Salon. I can have about 20-30 appointments depending on the day. I primarily do color and work with three assistants. We have the system down and run like a well-oiled machine!Right now, I have so many clients asking for the Ecaille trend that have been seen on celebrities such as Jessica Biel and Kelly Rowland. To get this look, I would use Matrix SOCOLOR UL-AA with 40 volume. To maintain the Color, use a color safe and low pH Shampoo and Conditioner to extend the color of your hair, such as Matrix Biolage COLORLAST Shampoo and Conditioner.


Middle of the Day: Every day is different, but there are many days where my scheduled appointments will get interrupted by a last minute celebrity request needing a touch up for an upcoming event, an urgent press request as a result of my relationship with Matrix, or unexpected travel plans that I need to tend to, so its important for my team and I to be extremely flexible in our scheduling!


7:00 p.m.: This is when I typically wrap up my appointments for the day. I start winding down and prepping for the following work day.
7:30 p.m.: After work, I usually meet friends for dinner and then head out. Whether it is an event, an art gallery opening, there is always something!
10:30 p.m.: I’m in bed by now, unwinding from the day and prepping for the next day to come!

Beauty Buzz: Khloe Kardashian’s Extensive Routine, Stephen Dimmick Gets Glossy, and Is Hayley Williams the Next Online Guru?

Beauty editors are known to have extensive routines with plenty of products (hey, we have to test-drive the latest launches somehow), but we’ve got nothing on Khloe Kardashian. In a recent interview with Into the Gloss, the reality star loves to get her makeup done, and even admitted she tends to double up on products including foundations, shimmer powder, lippies, cleansers, and even dry shampoos! Stephen Dimmick is bringing his makeup mastery to the sales floor with his first line, GlossiGirl. Geared for the grown woman who may be on the fence about trying certain trends, the Australian import will introduce a series of six lipsticks with cream and matte-satin hybrid finish in highly pigmented hues. As Dimmick explained, “I love the idea of those really dry, crunchy liquid lips that all those young lines have. Most women might like the idea of it, but they really don’t like it because it doesn’t feel good. I wanted it [Poison Apple] to be matte, but not Nineties matte or liquid matte. First a MAC collection and now a channel of her own, Hayley Williams is a bonafide beauty buff! The Paramore frontwoman will star in her own web series on Popular TV called Kiss-Off. Williams will partner with makeup artist Brian J. O’Connor to replicate iconic looks from the likes of David Bowie and even interviewing musical acts to find out what inspired their look. As she explained, “I want to have other artists on the show, interview them about what inspires them and maybe how they found their look and what the process was for that.” [WWD]

Beyoncé’s back with a fresh batch of nail wraps with NCLA. After her first flawless collection sent everyone into a tizzy, the songstress paid homage to the Bey-hive with their own signature pattern, plus patterns that channel her “Blow” and “Haunted” videos. The no-makeup makeup trend shows no signs of slowing down, as its perennial line Nudestix is slated to hit the QVC airwaves in May. Created in partnership with her two daughters, Jenny Frankel developed the line to make everyone look like themselves – no makeup brushes required. “For my friends and me, brushes were extremely intimidating,” daughter Taylor said. “None of my friends know how to use them. We couldn’t do a smoky eye to save our lives. We wanted to look like ourselves, only better.” [WWD]

Moroccanoil is our go-to when it comes to moisturizing treatments, but the brand is branching out with a set of two dry shampoos: one for those with lighter locks and another for brunettes. Dove Wants You to Share #OneBeautifulThought

We all tend to nitpick when we’re looking in the mirror, but we never really think of how harsh our self-criticisms are and how much of an impact they can have. Luckily, Dove is bringing them out into the light to see them for what they really are and to inspire #OneBeautifulThought.

Dove France asked women on the street for their most personal thoughts about their bodies before they were invited out for a coffee. The coffee shop was staged with a pair of actresses who stepped into their shoes and said those criticisms out loud. The results prompted the women to reflect on how they see themselves, most noting that it’s not only horrifying and toxic, but one of the women said, “I hope my daughter never speaks to herself like that.” Another shared the women’s collective conclusion: “To like yourself is better. It’s as simple as that.” Good advice, indeed!
