Bethenny Frankel Busts Boring Shapewear with Skinnygirl Solutions

From TV to cocktails to undergarments, Bethenny Frankel has almost conquered it all. Skinnygirl Solutions, sold at select Macy’s stores, is her new sexy shapewear line meant to fit, flatter, and entice – all at an affordable price! Glam got the chance to briefly chat with the Bravo-lebrity at the line’s launch to talk about the collection’s range, her personal style, and her beauty must-haves.

Where did the spark for the collection come from?
It started from listening to women. The whole brand Skinny Girl Solutions is about practical solutions for women. It’s women saying, “I don’t want to be wearing something that makes me feel like an old lady.” It’s shapewear that you actually want people to see. It’s also lazy lingerie — you can throw away you old lingerie; you don’t have to look in another drawer to put something sexy on. I’m always the person wearing unsexy undergarments, and there’s no reason for it. Because if it’s affordable and if it’s comfortable, and it’s sexy, then why not? You could wear it where it shows or you could have it not showing, and then it could peekaboo with just a hint of lace. The most important thing is that it’s affordable and it’s actually solving a problem. It’s smoothing out women’s flaws, and everyone has different flaws. It could be someone who’s a size two or someone who is a size 12 – it’s all about how you feel. It’s about feeling confident, and it’s for all ages and all women.

What is the size range of the new collection?
We have mostly straight sizes, but I’ve requested a plus-size collection. I’m not sure what the dates are or how that’s going to work. A lot of people have asked for that, and a lot of people need larger cup sizes. Some people have small waist and larger breasts. There’s a few pieces [from the Smoothers and Shapers collection] that are available in plus size right now on the website, and BareNeccessties, so we’re constantly expanding. It’s one of the largest requests we get via email, and it’s been selling out so much already.

How would you incorporate the shapewear into your personal style?
It’s fun once in a while to feel flirty and feminine and sexy. I wear a lot of structured clothes, and I like the way I feel today – I feel a little girly with the cardigan. It makes you want to wear pearls; it makes you want to wear pink, so I like that. It’s a softer look. I like that the line is very elegant, but there are little racy moments, like there’s a leopard print, but it’s in blush. I just think it’s very elegant and makes you feel very feminine and very pretty.

Lastly, what are your top three beauty must-haves?
I always try to keep moisturizer in my bag because I have lizard hands. Hand sanitizer because I’m always shaking people’s hands, and a lip gloss.
