And, of course, there’s Sasha Fierce: pompadour in perfect position; black unitard hugging every curve; and that chromed-out glove riling up “Single Ladies” everywhere. Not only did Mrs. Carter’s new #BeyHereNow Pepsi ad—revealed today promptly at 9:00 a.m. EDT—mark her reunion with the cola company, it gave us a look back at her most iconic performance looks, and gave us a 60-second listen to her new single, “Grown Woman.”
In the clip, Baddiebey chimes that it’s about time she show the world who she really is, while embracing her past and living for now. Judging by the accompanying visuals for this Timbaland-produced, Bhangra-laced song, at 31 years young, the new mom can still keep up with her former selves— gyrating moves and all. And while this “Bow Down” followup is more reminiscent of Bey’s familiar sanguine and sexy sound, it still reflects a more assertive side of the 17-time Grammy Award winner, one that’s not afraid to toot her own horn.
