In today’s edition of Beyoncé news, she’s getting personal with a brand new scent.
It’s more than the Mrs. Carter Show this time around as she moves beyond her stage persona (remember her Pulse scent?) to the Bey we came to learn more about through her HBO film, “Life Is But a Dream.” The new fragrance is named Rise, after Beyoncé’s favorite Maya Angelou poem, and is an “intoxicating, addictive luminous floral” that will hit shelves in early February. “The fragrance concept is a about female empowerment and finding the inner strength that makes women so beautiful,” Marsha Brooks, vice president of global marketing for fragrances in the Coty Beauty division of Coty Inc., told Women’s Wear Daily.
There’s a gilded tone to the new perfume, and it isn’t just the bottle! Golden symphony orchid, known as the queen of orchids (how fitting!), is paired with golden apricot on top. Sprinkled at the start with a blend of Italian bergamot and iced basil sorbet, jasmine sambac and freesia blossom tie the scent together as autumn woods, cashmere musk and vetiver extract round it out.
This news is just the icing on the cake of Beyoncé’s amazing year! We’re still recovering from the surprise drop of her very visual fifth album, as well as her grueling tour schedule (and its amazing wardrobe), her campaigns with Pepsi and H&M, and of course, who can forget her show-stopping performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
