It is no secret that Will Smith⿿s new movie Hancock is rumored to be terrible. It has gotten bad reviews and criticism from the start. In a string of superhero films that have made box office gold, this latest addition is expected to tank or make millions thanks to the simple appeal of Smith. Why? According to several reviewerstoo much is packed into the film.
*SPOILER ALERT*
As the film digs in to the psyche of Hancock, the depressed and drunken hero, it becomes more of a rush schizophrenic soul searching. Basically Will is a superhero who believes he is the ⿿only one of his kind.⿿ Enter Charlize Theron. She is also a superhero. GASP! Kinda obvious being that in trailers and leaks she is always wearing leather outfits. (Always a sign of hero-dom.) Two stories become squished together. The Hancock self discovery and roots plot entangles with a Theron love affair.
Others are giving the film fair and decent reviews that appeal more to the common audience. The basis is caught between action/comedy and drama. Regardless, as a reward to those willing to stick around after the final credits a bonus scene is shown.
Other summer movies are expected to make more of a splash. ⿿The Dark Knight,⿿ ⿿Tropic Thunder⿿ and ⿿Pineapple Express⿿ are all said to be the real jewels of the summer.
