Dear Bagistas,
WOW WOW WOW. What a crazy weekend. For those who tuned in to HSN on Friday, thank you so much for your support. I was so excited that the Calla bags were received so well and thrilled HSN was able to make it a $49 Today Special. I truly thought it was a good deal - as I would never take on a project I didn't believe in. The Steal and Camel were my favorite colors, though sadly they did not read too well on film. The rose pink, which wasn't something I could ever wear, but I could see some people wearing in hot climates or maybe on vacation, was one of the best sellers. Bags aside, I adored working with the designer Jenny. She's a doll. And, she had her family with her during some of the tapings. She has two of the cutest children - one 13-year-old girl that was beyond well behaved and poised and a little 1-year-old baby gal. Jenny and I had great chemistry and when we had hosts that loved bags as much as we did, it was a thrill to go on live. One of my favorite hosts was Callie Northagen. We had a blast backstage in the makeup room chatting about bags, fashion, her kids, Jenny's kids and my fiance. So many more stories to tell about sleep deprivation, loading up on chocolate, mid-day runs to the hotel for showers, backstage goofing off, dancing on the catwalk -yes I did it! .... maybe during the 4th of July break I'll have a minute to share some more fun stories and scoop. Right now I'm off to Philadelphia to do a beach bag trend segment for Your Morning, on the Comcast Network.Tune in at 7am!!
I do want to thank my friends at Tracy Reese for lending me the fabulous white and and grey dress with lace on top and pleating at the bottom, from the Plenty by Tracy Reese fall 2008 collection. I'm so buying this sample once the pr firm is done with it! I also did a little shopping at edressme.com - my go-to source for dresses - right before I left for Florida. For Melissa in North Carolina, in regards to your email, that amazing black dress I wore during my nighttime shows is from Tadashi. It does voodoo for all your curves. If you're hourglass, you have to own this dress. Trust me the model isn't working it as well as you will!
Oh, and one more "thank you" to the amazing staff at The Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park for being so warm and helpful during my morning runs to HSN and my odd requests for 2:40pm wakeup or 7:35pm dinner or 11:30am runs on their complimentary shuttle to Walmart to get a bikini so I could swim in their pool and relax after my 24-hour+ day was done. Bonus: I had this great view of the water, wooden bridges and a bell tower structure -- very tranquil. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan to be in the St. Petersburg, Florida area.

Dear Bagistas,
I just found out that the Calla Concorde satchel I'll be mentioning on HSN this coming Friday is not going to be $59.90 but$49.90. Super excited. This is really a fab deal and a way to get the look of crocodile at fraction of the cost - actually about 50 times less!! I've been rocking out the bag for about two weeks first in the camel and then in the steel. I also took the pink (they'll call it "rose" on the show) for a walk, playing it down with a black scarf. Rose isn't for everyone and I'm not usually into the look-at-me colors. If you are, this is perfect. Magenta and all kinds of deep pinks are going to be the surprise colors for fall. It's definitely more on the trendy side, but for $49 I think you can go trendy. However, the other four shades - black, steel, camel and bronze - are timeless. Steel by far is my favorite and I've had my grey and peach Rebecca Minkoff scarf accenting the satchel all week - got a huge compliment from a pr friend of mine who sees his share of fabulous merchandise.
Anywho, back to packing. My flight is tomorrow at noon and then I'm off to HSN off to the headquarters in Florida for a 930pm meeting with producers and then hair and makeup. The show starts at midnight. Wish me luck :).

Dear Bagistas,
It's Recession Thursday time - time to see what we can buy for our dollars. This week, I found the MAXX NEW YORK 'Fenway' Patent Bowler in pink on sale at Nordstrom.com for $87. MAXX NEW YORK is always a good source for a affordable bags that are on trend. I've been using their classic Birdle in large as a travel bag for several seasons. I also have the same bag in a small version for daytime. The Fenway Bowler is a perfect work bag, with great structure and a fun - not terribly bright - pink finish. It holds all your necessities and then some. The shoulder strap drop could be a bit long, but you can get on the shoulder if you want. Of course, hand-held will look better. To down play the pink, try to tie a dark pashmina or silk scarf around one handle - works like a charm! Even if you're not pink all-year-around, for $87 you get a really reliable summer handbag option. Use for work, play, or even for as a small weekender bag.
