About Roccett:

Success in the music industry is notoriously difficult. Whether it be the obstacle of not having the backing of a major label, or the lack of respect and support from superstar rappers and fans alike, the road to stardom is far from easy. Many people have fallen at the hands of these hardships.

One man who has thrived in these conditions is California rapper Roccett.

Born Jerome Rockett in 1983, and raised in the rugged streets of Carson, Calif., Roccett learned about hustling and working hard at a young age. The rough surroundings of crime and gangs in Carson molded Roccett into a strong individual, and gave him the necessary experience to share the struggles of what many people face. After his initial dream of a basketball career didnt materialize, he discovered he had a passion for hip-hop at the age of 16. With his eyes clearly set on his new goal, he began laying out the foundation for his success by performing shows throughout Los Angeles.

Coming from the west coast, a region that has produced stars like Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre, N.W.A and many more, and famous for its unique lifestyle, Roccett embodies what many west coast rap fans love, while at the same time displaying a versatility that makes him appealing to hip-hop fans across the world.

His charisma and strong stage presence, combined with his ability to craft stories about a wide array of subjects earned the young rapper the respect of fans and caused the industry to take notice.

His talent and drive caught the attention of Green Up Entertainment in 2004, and his partnership with the company, which has worked with notables like Usher and Tupac, has produced a sizable buzz. Having already worked with established stars like Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Killer Mike, Knocturnal and other rising rappers like Bishop Lamont and Spider Loc at this young stage of his career, as well as having critically acclaimed mixtapes under his belt, Roccetts talent is clear.

With so many dues paid, his industry knowledge and the groundwork set, Roccett is poised to make a lasting impression on hip-hop.

Transformers director Michael Bay says actress Megan Fox has a lot of growing up to do
By: Celebrity Mound    0 days 20 hours 26 minutes ago
Channel: Celebrities News

Megan Fox’s hotness may have most of the nation’s male population frothing at the mouth, but her former director Michael Bay rolls his eyes at the budding actress.

Fox blasted the “Transformers” director for relying on special effects rather than acting in the two Transformers films in an interview with “Entertainment Weekly.” But Bay is unimpressed.

“She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old, and she still has a lot of growing up to do,” the 44-year-old Bay told the Wall Street Journal. “You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, ‘Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want.’”

But is Fox biting the hand that feeds her? In addition to Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Bays directing credits include Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Rock.

“Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in ‘Transformers,’” said Bay, citing Nicolas Cage, Will Smith and Ben Affleck as other actors who have shot to stardom after starring in his films. “I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.”

Michael Jackson Was Working On Two Albums

At the time of Michael Jackson’s death, it was well-known that he was preparing for a 50-show concert series at London’s O2 Arena. What was less well-known — and what many are now speculating about — was what kind of recordings Jackson had done for the last few years.

Billboard has learned that the singer was working on two albums at the time of his death: one in the pop vein that made him famous and another that would consist of an instrumental classical composition. And while some believe the star wanted to recapture his ’80s glory days — or escape financial trouble — those who worked with him recently say he was motivated by his fans and his children.

Jackson was working on the pop album with songwriter Claude Kelly and Akon, who says that Jackson was motivated by the ticket sales for his performances. “He said, ‘My fans are still there. They still love me. They’re alive,’” Akon says. “His kids are like his first priority, and they had never seen him perform live. He was trying to create the most incredible show for his kids.”

Kelly, who wrote “Hold My Hand,” the Akon-produced Jackson track that leaked last year, says Jackson never lost his passion. “He was the King of Pop, the biggest to ever do it, and the one thing you never losewhether known by the whole world or just 10 peopleis your love for music,” Kelly says. “That never goes away, and it never went away for him amidst his troubles.”

Composer David Michael Frank had worked with Jackson on a 1989 TV tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. and received a call from the star’s assistant two months ago about collaborating again. Jackson invited Frank to his home in Los Angeles’ Holmby Hills, told him he was working on an instrumental album of classical music and asked for help with orchestration.

“He had two demos of two pieces he’d written, but they weren’t complete,” says Frank, who adds that he was impressed with Jackson’s knowledge of classical music. “For one of them, he had a whole section of it done in his head. He had not recorded it. He hummed it to me as I sat at the keyboard in his pool house and we figured out the chordsI guess this recording I made is the only copy that exists of this music.”

A few weeks ago, Jackson called to see how Frank was progressing on the orchestrations. “He mentioned more instrumental music of his he wanted to record, including one jazz piece,” Frank says. “I hope one day his family will decide to record this music as a tribute and show the world the depth of his artistry.”

Although questions arose about Jackson’s health, and the impact it had on his dancing and singing, those who collaborated with Jackson say his voice was in fine form, despite his frail appearance.

Greg Phillinganes, a keyboardist who collaborated with Jackson as musical director of the “Bad” tour and appeared on several of his albums, says Jackson sounded as good as he ever did. “He still had a good voice and never had a problem singing,” says Phillinganes, who last spoke to Jackson in March. “There were questions about him being able to pull off the tour on the choreography side, but sources working with him told me he was dancing all the time, every day, and was very focused, excited and committed to making this tour the best it could be.”

Akon last spoke to Jackson three months prior to his death. “He would always tell me to eat right and ask me if I was exercising and drinking water,” he says. “He’d always stress you had to take care of yourself before you can go off and do anything else.”

Frank agrees. “He seemed totally healthy, not frail, and gave me a firm handshake when we met. He seemed in good health, had a good voice and was in good spirits,” he says. “He was very skinny, but from what I knew, he was always thin. He was also taller than I pictured, but he might have been wearing some platform shoes. And he was impeccably dressed.”

Much has been made of Jackson’s intense rehearsal schedule, but Phillinganes says that Jackson lived up to his reputation as a perfectionist. “It was the biggest comeback of his career, arguably the biggest comeback in pop musiceven bigger than Elvis,” he says. “So obviously he’d want to do the best he could. He never did anything half-assed, which is what originally got him to the stature he had.”

Rihanna Being Investigated For Illegal Tattooing
By: Celebrity Mound    0 days 20 hours 40 minutes ago
Channel: Celebrities News

When Rihanna tatooed a few of the tattoo artists at East Side Ink in New York on Wednesday night, she may not have realized what she was doing was illegal.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene confirmed to MTV News on Thursday (July 2) that someone has been sent to the tattoo parlor to investigate the incident. In a statement, the department said, “Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City’s Health Code. We are sending someone to follow up on this.”

TMZ reported that if the department decides to press charges against the pop star for tattooing someone without a license, she could face three misdemeanors, with penalties as much as $300 for the first offense, $500 for the second and $1,000 for the third offense. Additionally, sources told the Web site that in addition to Rihanna, East Side Ink could be facing fines as well if an investigation is opened.

Earlier on Thursday, MTV News spoke to East Side Ink owner Yadira, who said that Rihanna hadn’t visited East Side with the intention of inking her long-time tattoo artist, BangBang, as well as two other artists at the parlor. Rihanna was there with a few friends and a bodyguard for “a few hours, just hanging out and joking,” she said, and BangBang decided that he wanted the pop star to give him a tattoo. Yadira added, “We had a blast. It was so funny and cute.”
