"The Office" star RAINN WILSON gets the chance to rock out "Rock Band" style in his upcoming summer comedy, 'The Rocker' -- and ET's got him!

"I got to live, over two months of shooting, a total rock star fantasy; it was fantastic," Rainn tells ET. "I got to trash hotel rooms, I got to drive into swimming pools, and light things on fire, and play an arena with thousands of screaming fans. I mean, what more can you ask for?"

In theaters August 1, 'The Rocker' finds Rainn as Robert "Fish" Fishman, a drummer who got a taste of the rock 'n' roll fantasy in the '80s as a member of the hair band Vesuvius -- until he was unceremoniously booted from the group.
