Designer R. Scott French showed his rugged, yet Euro-influenced menswear (even though he hails from Virginia and learned to sew from his grandma in her quilting circles), pairing runway looks with Hush Puppies from their new, limited edition Guest Designer series debuting this fall with designs by celeb stylist Phillip Bloch. "Hush Puppies is a brand that stands for something," notes Bloch. "It is a true
lifestyle. I had to be cognizant of that and take the confidence and
style of the Hush Puppies man, make it my own, and push it to the next
level. Shoes really do make the outfit, and it's just as
true for men as it is for women. I designed a collection that is
wearable and comfortable, but still allows for a strong amount of
individual expression."
As part of the iconic footwear company's year-long 50th Birthday Celebration: Fifty Years of Casual Style, the collection will be seen globally on celebrities, in advertising, and, featured in print, online and on television. Special packaging and imagery was even been developed to help promote the Guest Designer Series.
The women's guest designer is Rachel Fanconi, a London-based fashion stylist with 15 years experience and clients including Helen Mirren, David Beckham, Cat Deeley, Rachel
Griffith, Graham Norton, Fiona Phillips, Rod Stewart, Ashlee Simpson,
Jessica Simpson, and Emily Watson. "This is our first designer collaboration for the Hush Puppies brand, and we are excited about the wonderful partnership of talent with the Hush Puppies' design team and Rachel and Phillip," explains Mark Neal, Global President of Hush Puppies. "This is the culmination of many months of work that has resulted in a fresh, new design sensibility and spirit for the brand."
