(Bags from the new ISAAC Isaac Mizrahi line.)
Despite having closed his business before back in 1998 the ever avant garde fashion marketer Isaac Mizrahi isnt one to let past failures keep him from trying again.
His new collection of
ISAAC Isaac Mizrahi bags are launching in a category that other successful designers have discovered is awash in serious money. And much of the reason has to do with women simply updating the more timeless, ladylike silhouettes that have been prowling the catwalks for the past few seasons. "In order to make yourself fashionable right now, the first things you think about are your bag, your shoes, your hairstyle," Mizrahi recently told WWD. "Then everything else looks contemporary if you have that right. And what I'm finding is that clothes are more and more like accessories every day. No longer do you do groups of meaningless clothes that work together. Each piece has to feel like it can stand on its own before you can even consider how it works within a wardrobe."
Crafted from matte & patent leathers, suede, and canvas, the bridge line is comprised of
25 basic handbag silhouettes including totebags, duffles, satches, shoulder bags & clutches in neutrals (black, rich brown, camel, cream) and vibrant hues (pink, fuschia, red). Produced under license with the Accessory Network Group which also owns the Ghurka label and the Calvin Klein accessories license first year sales of
ISAAC Isaac Mizrahi bags, which will retail in the
$400 - $900 range, are being guesstimated at between
$1 million and $2 million. "You won't find trendy materials and designs here, explains Mizrahi. "I'm a classicist and I want to design classic thingsWhile we have one or two pieces that are tailored, most of the looks are amorphous with a little structure to them. It's ladylike, which is the edgiest thing in the world right now." (via WWD)To hear the
