New York isn't known for being the most creative of Fashionweeks; saleable, yes, but often lacking in imagination. However, enough important & trendsetting designers show here, that it's a precursor of what to expect from London, Milan and Paris. This season, some 60s space age silhouettes and necklines still persisted, as did crayola bright tights a la 80s, but the more interesting trends included the predominance of beautiful-to-gorgeous grown up clothes for ladies, the surprising lack of jewelry, fur, color, gray dresses, slouchy/chic trousers, metallics (still!), hats - and the emergence of seasonless clothing & color palettes.
