"Cloverfield" is generating all kinds of buzz and it’s spreading like wildfire across the internet. I was sent a tip to look at these "fake" news reports from around the world. I think having this "mockumentary" promoted via the internet is a brilliant idea - after all, it worked for the "Blair Witch Project" which was also done as a "documentary" from the first-person camera perspective. It was not as effective, however, for "Snakes on a Plane" which, despite a strong online following, underperformed at the box office. I wonder if, sometimes, you can oversaturate the market with promotion. We’ll see…
