Will Arnett and Woody Harrelson have joined the sold-out “Will Ferrell’s Funny or Die Comedy Tour.” It’s all part of their big plan to promote New Line Cinema’s basketball comedy “Semi-Pro,” scheduled for a Feb. 29 release.
The three actors, who star in the movie, join comedians Zach Galifianakis, Demetri Martin and Nick Swardson on the tour, mostly targeting college campuses. Way to get the word out, guys.
All the performers have appeared on Ferrell’s FunnyorDie.com, which is also getting a promotional boost. According to Hollywood Reporter, each performance features several comedy shorts from the site, as well as clips from “Semi-Pro,” about an owner-coach-player of the Flint Michigan Tropics, who rallies his teammates to make their NBA dreams come true.
Is it just me, or is Will Ferrell determined to make a movie about every type of sport out there? And is it cool that all the promos these days are cross-promoted on the web and tours and talk shows and everything else? Or is it overkill? Or is there such a thing as overkill when it comes to promoting your movie?
