So, if you are still debating about what you want for Christmas…on the dinner table that is…..then I think that I may have the answer.
I myself have been debating back and forth between several meal ideas. I knew that I wanted this to be a special meal and that I didn’t want a carbon copy of the same thing I ate a month ago. So, no turkey at this dinner table. I needed a little inspiration.
I had a little chat with Farley from Behind the Vines and Chris from Brew Ha-Ha, because let’s face it…what would this special meal be like if you didn’t have a special beverage to accompany it? When you sit down for such a beautiful meal you want something that compliments and enriches all the flavors before you. So whether your taste buds lean towards wine or beer (I LOVE both) read what Farley and Chris offer up as pairings for this incredible meal.
So, what is a great way to start this meal? How about trying Nigella Lawson’s Crab Cocktail. This is a fun twist on a common appetizer, but fair warning…watch-out for the Wasabi paste.
For the center piece of your Holiday table, you can’t go wrong with a Crown Roast of Pork with Onion and Bread-Crumb Stuffing (pictured above).
The rest of the menu comes to us via our celebrity chefs at the Food Network. The sides: Amy Finley’s Gougeres, Giada’s Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta (check the reviews on this, people who didn’t think they liked brussels sprouts loved this recipe), Ina Garten’s Cauliflower Gratin, my kids will devour Tyler’s Candied Carrots and I have been wanting to try Yorkshire Pudding.
So, after you have let all that digest, how about going Italian, dipping in to the Panettone and making some very easy Eggnog-Panettone Bread Pudding.
Well, I hope that maybe you take one or more of these menu ideas or they have least inspried you. Most of the recipes are simple to make, so you won’t be spending all day in the kitchen. The sides you can even cook/prepare the day before.
Remember, get some more Holiday inspiration with Farley and Chris and don’t neglect one of the best parts of a meal, the drinks that accompany it. You spent your time, money and energy on this creation so, discover the best beverages to enhance your Holiday meal.
