Louis Vuitton's Resort 2008 collection is quite possibly one of my favorites of all time. The entire collection has a very retro-chic vibe, serving up looks from decades past. Bold retro prints of anchors, boats, and airplanes, towering wedges, and Audrey Hepburnesque-sunglasses dominated the runway. A basic palette of nautical colors such as navy blue and white is mixed with infusions of brights such as raspberry and azure. Marc Jacobs combines all these elements for a truly superb resort line that offers a fresh take on retro style while also staying true to the classic Louis Vuitton aesthetic. Items such as a smart raspberry printed daydress and high-waisted, volumnious, full knee-length skirts invoke images of a '50s trendsetter...on vacation. The Louis Vuitton Resort 2008 collection was certainly a universal hit with almost everyone in the fashion industry.
