So we know designers have picked up the blogging bug (Sue Stemp, Rafe Totengo, Holly Dunlap, how we adore and admire thee) but now, when so moved, some have taken to commenting on fashion blogs. For example, when The New York Times’ Cathy Horyn admonished Marc Jacobs for sticking out his tongue at The International Herald Tribune’s Suzy Menkes at the Vuitton show, the designer himself logged on, typed up, and posted a note in his defense. (His words made Horyn retract her statement.)
This makes for an interesting development in the style blogosphere: If designers are stalling on their atelier work to surf around online, all those arm-chair fashion critics might change their tune to include more complimentary prose, no?
Speaking of style bloggers…Manolo Shoe Blognot to be confused with the famed cobbler’s workpointed out this excellent Daily Mail piece which features a behind-the-scenes look at Victoria Beckhams Elle covershoot (and the issue doesnt hit stands until January! Will people buy it if they already know what she’s wearing???) as well as a keen look at the possible inspirations behind her most memorable ensembles.
And a few clicks over, theres a preview of Kate Moss in her latest Topshop collection. In the shootwhich can also be found in the new i-D issue, the supe sports a dirty-blonde, Debbie Harry look. The images may prompt Moss fans to make a mad rush to the drug store for peroxide dye, but will it inspire them to queu up for clothes they’ve already been gazing at for months?
