In a perfect world, we would all have been breastfed ourselves and seen others doing so from an early age so that we would have imbibed the knowledge of how it is done without even realising it. Realistically though, in the Western world today few of us have ever seen anyone breastfeeding before we attempt it ourselves and even getting correct information and support from midwives and health visitors can be a hit and miss affair, as I found out from my own experience. Thankfully, there are books (and organisations) to help in every circumstance and with any query you may have, all you need is to know about them beforehand! Which is where I come in!
