A hospital rep says the medical center will pay the fine.
The Los Angeles hospital that allegedly gave accidental overdoses of the blood thinner herapin to DENNIS QUAID's newborn twins last November has been fined $25,000 by state regulators, according to the Associated Press. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and 10 other hospitals were cited by the California Department of Public Health on Thursday for violations that caused or were "likely to cause, serious injury or death to patients."
A Cedars-Sinai spokesman said the hospital intends to pay the fine, the AP reports. Two months ago, state hospital regulators found the medical center culpable of placing its pediatric patients in "immediate harm" by giving them excessive amounts of the blood-thinner heparin.
The Quaids are now suing Baxter International, the manufacturer of the drug. Twins ZOE and BOONE have since recovered.
