I’m a tried and true Aveeno fan. I’ve been a fan of their’s forever. They’ve been around longer than I’ve been alive (60 years) and are the company whose products to use, especially if you suffer from dry skin or have problem skin.
I suffer from occasional eczema breakouts on my ankles, elbows and calves and I discovered Aveeno a few years ago while on the hunt for a soap and body wash that would be gentle, yet rinse off easily, and not leave my skin feeling as though I scrubbed it with a cheese grater. Especially for the eczema affected areas of my skin. Ouch.
I SWEARRRR by the Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash.

I’ve been using this body wash for years. I just love the way my sensitive skin feels after a shower (and I can assure you my Hubby does too. Heh, heh, heh… *smirk*)
So when the opportunity arose for me to try out a few products from Aveeno recently, of course, I jumped at the chance. I’m a beauty/makeup/dress-up junkie. I can be in a pharmacy/drugstore for hours and hours and–it’s an addiction, I tell you…but I digress. As this is a Beauty & Style blog for Mommies and Future Mommies, I’m going to test a various items from Aveeno (for myself) and Aveeno Baby and report all about it to you (in a short series).
*Loud sigh…*Oh, the sacrifices I make for you all. :)
One of the things that I will tell anyone within earshot is how important it is to take care of your skin. No, I’m not gonna get all preachy on you, but I’m telling you, protecting it is how you’re going to stay a Hot Mama no matter WHAT age. One thing my grandmother (who has FLAWLESS SKIN!) always told me is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize (your face). And that means every single solitary day. But don’t stop with your face. Give your neck, hands, elbows, knees, and rest of your body that moisture too. What’s the point of having a gorgeous smooth face if the rest is–well, not so fresh looking?
Which is why no matter who, what, when, where, and how, Pascalle has her moisturizer with her at all times and it’s the first thing I put on after I wash my face each day. Even if I don’t put a stitch of makeup on (which I usually don’t on a daily basis anyway) I DO put moisturizer on my face and neck.
Which brings me to the first product I tested:

Aveeno Active Naturals POSITIVELY AGELESS Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30

The POSITIVELY AGELESS products line as described by Aveeno:
“A line of facial care products that work with your unique skin, accelerating your own cell renewal process and revealing health, younger-looking skin.”
The ACTIVE NATURALS® description:
“ACTIVE NATURALS® are ingredients derived from nature and uniquely formulated by AVEENO® to optimize skin’s health and beauty.”
I could go on and on about the shittake complex ingredients and all that, but why bother when you can just click here to read about it. Look, I’m a very simple gal. When I’m shopping for a moisturizer I’m essentially looking for something to help balance my combination skin, make my skin softer, appear smoother, and protect it from the sun. This moisturizer did all of that. It smelled good (but not overpowering), and has a smooth, creamy texture. I also loved that it’s SPF 30. The only downside for me is since I have combination skin, my T-Zone area is usually very oily by the middle/end of the day and this moisturizer is a bit too heavy for that particular zone. That said, it was perfect for my dry spots. In my research I didn’t see any other versions for this item on the Aveeno site. Perhaps this is something to suggest to the company?
The next item I tested in the past week is for especially for baby. As you all know, I am a Mommy to a rambunctious 9 month old boy (which you DO know b/c you read my personal blog, everyday right??? Right…) and since I’m already a fan of Aveeno, naturally, I bought Aveeno Baby items for him from birth. My son suffered with dry skin from Day 1, but that hasn’t been a problem since we use the Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo & the Daily Moisture Lotion.

The wash is a 2-in-1 so when you’re wrestling with a slippery, sliding infant in the tub and doing everything with one hand, it helps to have a multi-purpose product that you can use quickly, is tear-free, and that rinses off easily. Trust me on this one!!!
For the purposes of this post, we’ve been testing a new set:

It’s the Calming Comfort Bath and matching Lotion. The line is called ‘Calming Comfort’ because it contains lavender and vanilla aromatherapy to help calm baby down for bedtime.
I admit it does smell pretty good, again, without being overpowering (that’s important to me) and it is tear-free (again a big plus). I’m not sure it helped calm my son down after his bath, but hey, it might work for your cutiepies (listen, I’m sure my kid is the exception b/c he is a wild one now. And while we’re at it, how come no one ever told me how wild they are in the tub at 9 months old!?! Bathtime is war! Full of “No!” “Sit up!”, “Don’t drink that!” and me trying to get him to stay still and NOT stand up in the slippery bathtub. It’s crazy!!!!!) Have I digressed again? Sorry. Anyhoo, the soap and lotion does what it’s supposed to do. Baby is left free of dirt, grime and spilled apple sauce, and that’s what’s important.
Coming up on Pt. II: AVEENO® Eczema Care items (body wash and lotion).
Stay tuned!
