Jeans & The Vanity Sizing Scandal

jf1.jpg The Sunday Times has uncovered something that I think everyone has suspected for a while - that jeans manufacturers and retailers have been telling lies about the real waist sizes of their jeans. Companies such as The Gap, H&M, Zara, French Connection and TopShop are all practising "vanity sizing" and understating the waist sizes of their jeans by up to 6 inches ie. a pair of jeans that were labelled as waist size 30in in some cases actually measured up to 36in. I wondered how come my waist size had managed to stay the same size for the last 10 years.
