French actor Mathieu Amalric has been reportedly confirmed as Daniel Craigâ??s nemesis in the next 007 (Bond 22) movie.
The actor is receiving rave reviews for his starring role as a paralyzed sufferer of locked-in syndrome in Julian Schnabel’s critically acclaimed new film, ‘The Diving Bell and the Butterfly’. Amalric, 42, refused to reveal details about his villainous character in the Casino Royale follow-up, although Bond girl Eva Green has hinted that Amalric will be her Casino Royale character’s boyfriend, which would make sense now that rumors are Green will not appear in the next film, though photos of her character will.

When asked if he will play the villain by Empire today, Amalric says, “I will, itâ??s true. I play the villain, yes. It has to do with childhood, you know? To be a villain in James Bond is just so funny. I never dreamt about that. Itâ??s not what I want to do with my career. Itâ??s just that I have kids and itâ??s so funny to do that.”
This news seems to  indicate that the Denver Post was wrong in claiming Robert Knepper would be playing the next Bond villain. Unless, of course, there are multiple bad guys?
Shooting for the un-named Bond 22 begins in January 2008.
