It⿿s not so good to be the king, after all. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, 29, who plays King Henry VIII in Showtime⿿s The Tudors, has checked into rehab. In a statement to Usmagazine.com a Meyers rep says, ⿿After a non-stop succession of filming Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol treatment program. He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery. Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion.⿿ According to IMDB Meyers has at least four films in the works, most of which are of the tough-acting-chops-needed period-piece variety: Toussaint, Brontë, The Children of Huang Shi and August Rush. Meyers starred in Woody Allen⿿s Match Point with Scarlett Johansson and won a Golden Globe for playing Elvis Presley in the 2005 mini-series Elvis. (source)
