Its not so good to be the king, after all. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, 29, who plays King Henry VIII in Showtimes The Tudors, has checked into rehab.
In a statement to Usmagazine.com a Meyers rep says, After a non-stop succession of filming Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol treatment program. He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery. Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion.
According to IMDB Meyers has at least four films in the works, most of which are of the tough-acting-chops-needed period-piece variety: Toussaint, Brontë, The Children of Huang Shi and August Rush.
Meyers starred in Woody Allens Match Point with Scarlett Johansson and won a Golden Globe for playing Elvis Presley in the 2005 mini-series Elvis.
