I get Facebook. It's a network site for college students that allows you to get to know friends of friends, kids in your classes, kids in the same highly inventive and entertaining groups, kids the listen to the same music, watch the same movies, and read the same books... all at the same university as you.
I just don't get MySpace. In fact, the only thing I experience I have with MySpace is the crazy sex scandel headlines. That's it. I was never even curious about the website. But then today, from a random celebrity gossip article (which I only read once in a blue moon... usually), I happened to click on a link that led me to a minor B-list celebrity's MySpace profile. From there, I went to another celebrity. Soon I was B-, C-, and D-list celebrity-hopping my way through MySpace profiles.
Yet I felt like I was intruding on a ultra-private inner celeb circle on the web, like I had stumbled into Bungalow 8's VIP room by chance. Was I not supposed to be there [MySpace profiles, not the VIP room]? Were only real-like friends allowed to "friend" these minor celebs? Are these even the celebs real profiles, or are they just fan-created?
I feel so out of the loop, like I was living under a rock and when I finally crawled out (because I was craving a Starbucks latte and was craving a little shopping, most likely) there was this strange new e-invention called MySpace that I couldn't for the life of me understand.
That may be a bit dramatic, but you get the gist. Now I know I have some MySpacers out there. Enlighten me, please! And if you know of more celeb profiles, by all means, send those links my way. Unless of course that would be like breaking into a VIP room, of course.
