Small But Mighty

Europe has had the idea that more compact (as in cars) can be a good thing.  Epecially when you live in a big city and parking is a constant headache like it is in Paris.  I remember seeing my first Smart car in th mid-90’s and was baffled that someone would want to drive something so tiny.  Back then I was sporting a huge van with the obligatory 4 captains chairs, cup holders and plenty of leg room for family road trips.  Why something so tiny?  The answer was simple:

They fit anywhere.  The tiniest of curbside real estate left between 2 regular sized cars is all that Smart car owners need to create a space.  And because they are so cute and tiny, people seem to want to decorate them.  The beige that you see on this one is “faux caning” sort of giving a picnic basket feel.

Then there is the Mini Cooper, that is slightly bigger and has even been embraced by our gas guzzling, ginormous car nation as I have seen plenty on the American roads.  But none with a Hello Kitty sticker sending out a personalized message.  But my favorite by far:

A little advertising for the film “Ratatouille” that just came out here.

I have seen the movie, which is adorable, and I would even put this little guy on the top of my car at home.  But that probably doesn’t surprise any of you.  Last, but not least:

This is for my mom.  I spoke to her yesterday and yes, even though I am a grown woman with grown up daughters, my mom still asks that I let her know that I am ok when traveling.  We chatted on Skype when I got in and her first question was, “Have you been to the Eiffel Tower yet?” (that is the first place she would have gone to).  Well Mom, I got there this morning and took this for you.  It is amazing as always!  Love u.
