Ralph Lauren seems to have carved a nice little niche for himself in the handbag universe as a purveyor of classically built bags very often in alligator. Seems he follows the old adage "find what you're good at and stick to it" (herds of tiny embroidered polo ponies can't be wrong) and fall 2007 just proves it.

There is really nothing extraordinary about this bag, which is, if you ask me, the point. It doesn't scream a designer label, it's quiet, classy, and elegant.

There was also a Birkin style bag, which was too derivative for my taste, and a slightly trendier square bag with an envelope shaped flap which reminded me of some of the styles shown at Marc Jacobs, and looks a bit dated to me (to be fair, the Jacobs version does too). This style actually reminds me of the European man-bags popular in the 70s.While for the most part the looks were very classic, I prefer the Ricky, a style I really appreciate for it's fresh take on a style as well as the romantic idea of naming a bag for your wife.
