Confession: I've been on a bit of a health kick ever since my MD "prescribed" the South Beach Diet to help me get rid of my sweets cravings. Short of an exorcism, I was willing to try anything so I gave it a shot. (It should be noted that I rarely follow the advice of medical professionals unless it includes words like "percoset" and "miracle pill")
I have to say, South Beach has been a blast. It sounds totally cliche, but honestly, I'm never hungry. And...get this...I've actually enjoyed experimenting with different foods and COOKING. No seriously, cooking. Not microwaving, cooking. The kind that requires an adorable cherry-print apron and a martini.
The best part is that my horrible sugar cravings have subsided by about 75%
In the two plus weeks that I have been following the South Beach diet plan, I have learned tons about nutrition and food and how it affects your health. And I actually find it really interesting. I used to tease my friend Jenna for asking the waiter whether or not the beef was grain-fed or grass-fed or the salmon wild or farmed, but now I'm actually curious myself. (Weird, right?)
