Joey Heatherton could sing, dance and act. She got her start on B’way as a child actor in The Sound Of Music. But what really stands out in my mind is her haircut. Kind of a shag with extra long bangs that were perfect for throwing around while dancing the “Frug”. And Joey could really throw it around. The other image is of Joey on my favorite dance show growing up…Hullabaloo, where Joey shocked people with her wild dancing. I’ll never forget it! Evidently she also released a single by the same name, which I don’t remember. But I saw her a lot on The Dean Martin Show and Johnny Carson’s Late Night Show. I read that she was in some memorable films that I’d like to see…her first in 1963, Twilight Of Honor (with Richard Chamberlain) and 64’s Where Love Has Gone (with Bette Davis). I also missed the film she starred in The Happy Hooker Goes To Washington (with George Hamilton). I did see John Waters 1990 Cry Baby (with Johnny Depp) but there wasn’t enough Joey.
Unfortunately things went down hill in the 70’s. She married pro football player Lance Rentzel who got arrested for showing his stuff to a little girl. That would be enough to drive anyone crazy. So next came the divorce, the cocaine, then the eating disorder, cause a girls gotta be thin, gotta sparkle, gotta go-go. Sad times.

I believe this was a lipstick ad, probably for Revlon. But Joey mostly wore pale lips.

This was one of several albums she made…don’t know why she’s topless (but you can really see how great the haircut is here). I’ve seen the uncensored shot and Joey had really sweet ta-tas. She also appeared on the cover of PlayBoy, but that was in 97 when times were getting tuff.

This was the Hullabloo logo. It only ran for two seasons in 65 & 66. But the dancers were the best and Joey was featured many times. I dreamed of dancing on Hullabloo as a kid. I always thought it was better then Shindig, that other TV dance show. Plus it was one of the first in color. Yes kiddies…TV used to only be in blk & wht.

Joey’s poster…Yikes stripes! She was so sexy with naturally pouty lips and a cute turned-up nose, and that hair, always falling in her eyes. Plus she was the Queen of the sexy side-long glance complete with lush eye lashes. So sixties, so groovy man!

So this movie Blue Beard was made in Europe and was released in 72. I have to find it…it has to be fantastic. Look at that cast! Joey Heatherton, Raquel Welch, Verna Lisi and Alain Delon’s daughter Nathalie, not to mention Richard Burton, all in one film…gotta see it! And I can’t forget to mention the Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattress ad Joey sings and dances her heart out in. Check it out on YouTube.
I’ll never forget you Joey Heatherton.
