fashion week a/w 2008 - day 2

I'm not sure if I should start with the good or the bad, day 2, in fact, had a little bit of both.

I think I'll alternate.

How adorable was Lacoste?

I loved the color combinations,

the grays

and the miniskirts.

Academy of Art, on the other hand...

Did they give her the wrong size?

Ouch! My eyes!

Back to something pleasant.

Jewel tones dominated Costello Tagliapietra's collection.

Here's a dress I can see myself wearing to a party.

And here are more clothes that can make a smooth transition from runway to closets.

Unfortunately, most of Araks looked very unflattering and just plain ugly.

Verrier's collection was very pretty and feminine, with pinks, flowers and delicate fabrics.

Abaete could have been better if they didn't cover the models' heads with hoodies. This dress would have looked just fine without a "hat".

I always wonder what makes a designer add one "signature item" that has nothing to do with the rest of an outfit and that is just detrimental to the look as a whole. Is it more an act of self-indulgence or of self-destruction?

Alexandre Herchovitch is definitely preferring self-destruction. What do they say about mixing patterns? Especially stripes and checkered patterns?

This shoe almost made the "worst piece" of day 2...

Everybody's trying so desperately to come up with new heels designs and failing miserably.

But Alexandre can rest easy, since it's another piece of the collection that won the "worst" award.

Here is a mess of a dress. Even the model is disgusted with it. I'm not sure if it's a dress or if it's two pieces, but it really doesn't matter. To me, it looks like an episode of "America's most smartest model", when they were given three pieces of oddly shaped fabric and they had to use them to design something.

I was disappointed with Rock & Republic. While the collection wasn't bad, it just looked too much like their old ones.

Sass & Bide looked like the more colorful and happy collection, and one of the most enjoyable shows.

To sum up the first few days of Fashion Week, we can safely say that there have been no big shocks on the runway, at least not so far, and that we can keep buying tights and ankle boots, to stock them up for next winter. Yay!
