Why: There⿿s a lot to love about hotels. There⿿s the room service, fresh sheets every day for a bed that you don⿿t have to make, and of course, there⿿s the mini-bar stocked with overpriced alcohol and M&M⿿s. What⿿s not to love right? Well, there⿿s the smell for one. Even when you⿿re staying in the nicest, cleanest, most 5 star hotel around, it still smells like a hotel. Sometimes the room smells overly antiseptic, which is clearly better than the alternative, but still less than ideal. Other times, the scent of the freshly cut gardenias so generously placed all over your room is a little on the sickeningly sweet side.
