Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of former Mr. Universe Mickey Hargitay and 1950’s sex symbol Jayne Mansfield.
In 1967, Mariska’s mother Jayne was killed in a vehicular accident whiled driving along US Highway 90. Jayne’s boyfriend Sam Brody as well as the car’s driver were also killed. Mariska, then three-years-old and in the backseat, survived the crash with only a scar to the side of her head. Her brothers Miklos and Zultan were also in the car and escaped with minor injuries.
After their mother’s death, the siblings were raised by their father and his third wife Ellen Siano.
