Once again New York's fashion week has managed to be uninteresting. Of the shows over the last few days, only two were able to both capture and keep my interest.First things first: United Bamboo is rapidly moving up in my esteem. What they presented feels so right for Spring: dandified but young, and utterly utterly simple.Now for the obvious: our man MJ. At first, second, third, fourth through fiftieth glances, I normally hate his runway shows. It's only later that they grow on me, or that I at least grudgingly acknowledge their impact. Yet this time around, he's concocted a collection that's elegant and innovative at the same time. As anyone who knows me can attest, an elegant line will always win me over. Take note: key words for Spring are going to be draping and reinvented (as in, divorced from girlyness and lace) ruffles. Also, I plan on buying some brogues immediately if not sooner. Luella '07.
