WhySpace?

Every cola drinker has a strict preference between Coca Cola and Pepsi. Likewise, every social networker has a preference between Facebook and MySpace. Perhaps because of my small town upbringing, I'm definitely an f-booker all of the way. I like knowing that only fellow classmates can scope out my profile, while still allowing me to "friend" friends across the U.S. MySpace is like a giant free-for-all, full of crazies. Or so it seems to this naive Facebooker.I was quite anti-MySpace, in fact. But then my music loving ways took over and I ever so slowly began sneaking around MySpace Music. Just for the band exposure and free downloads, of course. Except now, my other passion is slowly drawing me to "the other side." My favorite fashion mags - as well as indie ones I have yet to discover - are popping up on MySpace, with fun, interactive profiles and oh-so-insider blog entries.Seventeen has slideshows, TeenVogue has YouTube vids, ELLEgirl has enviable music taste, and Nylon has frequent blog posts. If I didn't love glossies so much, I would just forgo my mag subscriptions and read MySpace compulsively. So instead I'll do both.I'm beginning to think little teenfashionista needs to jump on this MySpace trend, but I'm not completely sold just yet. What do you think - is it worth the time? -tf
