Cheese takes over the Pike Place Market on May 19-20th, with the third annual
Seattle Cheese Festival. Cheesemakers from as far away as Australia, and from as near as right there at the Market, will be displaying their wares and answering questions about the multitude of cheeses, and its history, background and uses.
Cheese is one of my favorite foods alone, with crackers or fruit, with a hunk of bread or slice of salami, or with a glass of red wine. Its comfort food and something new and exciting all rolled into one. While I can pass up many festivals, its hard for me to pass up cheese.
The highlight of the event, in my opinion, is the cheese concourse. For one dollar you can wander the concourse, tasting as many cheeses as youd like. Of course youll sample some of your favorites, but be sure to try some new ones, too there will be lots to choose from and be prepared to take home a few
new favorites.
Location: Pike Place Market, 1st & Pike
Date & Time: Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20th. Check the
event schedule for details.
Admission: Cheese tasting concourse is $1 per person. Special events, seminars and dinners have special pricing.
Other activities include fairly standard kid events, and a variety of cheese seminars. There will also be classes at a number of area restaurants on Friday (May 18th).
