'Hildegard' is a German name, derived from the old high German language, meaning 'guardian battle-maid' - think Valkyries, not Amazons. I don't think thats what Derek Lam had in mind when he designed this lovely hobo, featuring two detachable straps, pleated leather runched by a straight trim, and that fascinating silver color. But I couldn't help thinking of old...really old school origins that Derek Lam may draw his inspirations from when I look at his signature brass rams head ring on this bag. If you have a special soft spot for this type of archaic and ornate detail like me, then perhaps you'll care to spend US$1800 on this 'Hildegard', ja Fraulein?
